Rep Fitness Ares 2.0
The Rep Fitness Ares 2.0 is a fully integrated functional trainer and lat pulldown/low row that attaches right onto Rep’s power racks (PR-4000 and PR-5000).
With the Ares 2.0 cable attachment, you can do cable exercises while still being able to use the rack to its full capacity, giving you a TON of functionality in one piece of equipment.
This is a competitor to the Rogue FM Twin Functional Trainer.
Features
- Pulleys/Cables: 180 degree swivel aluminum pulleys with thin coated cables for a smooth pull
- Dual weight stacks: Dual selectorized weight stacks can be upgraded to 310lbs each (feels like 155lbs each)
- Lat pulldown/seated row: Integrated lat pulldown and seated row (row can be done on bench or floor)
- Cable attachments: Lat pulldown bar, 2 clips to connect them to the stack cables, and 4 knurled D-handle attachments
- Footplate: Adjusts for multiple starting points and has side cutouts to slide your bench deeper in the rack
The Rep Fitness Ares 2.0
The Rep Fitness Ares 2.0 is all about functionality and versatility.
It utilizes a 2:1 cable ratio, ideal for functional training when you want a faster-traveling cable.
(If you prefer both 2:1 and 1:1 pulley ratios, see the Rep Adonis)
Rep switched the resting position of the front trolleys to be stored at the bottom of the uprights instead of the top.
This creates more usable space on the rack upright at the top, which is important for those that choose the 80″ upright height and want to press or squat outside of the rack.
Trolleys, Cables, & Pulleys
Trolleys are designed with a smooth liner that’s easy to adjust up and down with one hand.
The swiveling front trolley pulleys are positioned further out to provide a greater range of motion that’s more comparable to a stand alone functional trainer.
The front and lat/seated row pulleys all swivel, making movements more versatile and ergonomic.
The upgraded cables have a thinner coating that creates a smoother feel.
Dual Weight Stacks
Dual selectorized weight stacks start at 260 lbs and can be upgraded to 310lbs each (with a 2:1 pulley ratio, it feels like 155lbs each) and allow for unilateral and bilateral training without compromising cable length like with a single weight stack.
Another advantage over a single stack is that your pull feels even because both hands aren’t fighting to move the same stack.
Weight stacks are turned 90 degrees and sit farther set back so there’s more space inside the rack for incline bench and other movements.
Seated Row & Lat Pulldown
One of the most exciting upgrades for the Rep Ares 2.0 cable machine is with its integrated lat pulldown and seated row feature.
The seated row’s cable point has been elevated compared to the original, providing a more comfortable and functional workout position.
This setup allows you the flexibility to perform exercises while seated comfortably on the floor or a bench.
Included Attachments
The Rep Fitness Ares 2.0 comes with a lat pulldown bar, 2 clips to connect them to the stack cables, and 4 knurled D-handles.
It also comes with two, integrated 5 lbs add-on weights (that feel like 2.5 lbs) for more weight jump options.
Footplate
The new footplate design adjusts for multiple starting points.
It’s much wider and is cut out on the sides so you can center your bench deeper in the rack for both incline and flat bench exercises.

What Rep Fitness Is Saying
Like the original Ares, the Ares 2.0 attachment connects to Rep’s PR-4000 or PR-5000 power racks, saving major space by bringing a ton more versatility and cable exercises inside the rack, while preserving the original functionality of the rack.
The Ares 2.0 attachment features dual 260 lbs selectorized weight stacks that can be upgraded to 310lbs each (feels like 155lbs each). This allows for both unilateral and bilateral training.
This feature utilizing swivel pulleys is typically found on high-end commercial machines, but we’ve integrated it into the Ares at a more accessible price point, without compromising its premium functionality.
The independent stacks allow two athletes to train on the Ares cables simultaneously with separate resistance levels for each, or a single athlete to superset exercises off each trolley without having to change weights between each set.
