Eisenlink Dumbbell Review

Summary by Shredded Dad
This review explains Eisenlink Dumbbell in plain terms with practical takeaways for home gym owners. Shredded Dad publishes reviews, comparisons, and fitness tools to help people build better garages and train smarter.

The Eisenlink dumbbell might be just what you’re looking for if you want a durable set of adjustable dumbbells that won’t eat up your garage space.

They’re made out of steal, easy to adjust, safe, and adjustable, making them ideal for progressively overload.

I have the 80 lbs set but these can also be expanded up to 160 lbs!

In this review, I’ll break down how they perform in real-world use, who they’re best for (and who should skip them), and how they compare to other adjustable dumbbells.

Let’s check them out!

Unboxing

unboxing the eisenlink adjustable dumbbells

Each dumbbell came in its own boxed and covered in thick styrofoam on top and bottom.

Some of the styrofoam did crack during shipping. These weigh 80 lbs so I’m sure some delivery drivers have a tough time carrying these.

Once I removed the top styrofoam pieces, the dumbbells where covered in plastic.

Some of the bottom styrofoam pieces were cracked too but hopefully no damage to the dumbbells.

Here they are out of the box.

Not a single scratch on them so the packaging did its job and I love the all black look.

What Are Eisenlink Dumbbells?

what are eisenlink adjustable dumbbells

Each Eisenlink dumbbell is a plate loaded adjustable dumbbell designed to replace an entire rack of dumbbells in a small space.

In fact, each dumbbell on the 80 lbs set I have is only 14″ long.

Each Eisenlink dumbbell uses steel weight plates and a locking screw to change weight quickly.

In the picture above, I removed the weight plates and screw from one side of a dumbbell.

There’s six 5 lbs plates, one 2.5 lbs plate, and 2.5 lbs screw on each side for a total of 35 lbs on each side.

The handle weighs 10 lbs and has two fixed plates connected to it.

Eisenlink 5 lbs plate (left) vs 2.5 lbs plate

Here’s what the plates look like…

The 5 lbs plate (left) has a groove in the middle while the 2.5 lbs has two rectangular cutouts on the sides to make it lighter.

One thing I’d like to see added to each plate is numbers. That would make it way easier to do math while changing weight.

Each plate has a handle on top and a male and female piece that keeps them interlocked to each other (more on that soon…)

Top Benefits Of Eisenlink Dumbbells

Space Saving

benefits of eisenlink dumbbells

Each 80 lbs Eisenlink dumbbell only takes up 14″ of space while replacing 15 dumbbells.

I see this as a great option for home gym owners who don’t wanna buy an entire rack of dumbbells which would eat up a lot of space.

And comes out to be more expensive than buying adjustable dumbbells.

Durability

are eisenlink dumbbells durable

These dumbbells are made out of steel and don’t have any plastic parts anywhere.

Even if you drop these on every workout, they’ll last a long time without having to replace anything.

Expandable

One thing I like about the Eisenlink dumbbells is that they are expandable.

I can start with a 50 lbs or 80 lbs set and if I outgrow it, I can buy a longer screw that lets me add more plates to the handle.

The long screw is 6.77″ long so it’s more than double the handle that comes with the 80 lbs set.

Wit the long screw, I can expand each Eisenlink dumbbell to 160 lbs!

Best Features Of Eisenlink Adjustable Dumbbells

Interlocking Weight Plates

best features of eisenlink adjustable dumbbells

With the exception of the weight plates that are welded to the handle, each weight plate has a male and female piece on each side.

Above you can see the male piece at the top of the plate, next to the handle.

These male pieces fit into the female pieces that are on the backside of each weight plate.

Here’s a closer look at the female pieces on the opposite side.

In the pic above, I circled the male pieces in green and the female pieces in red.

When they’re right next to each other, these fit like a puzzle and keep the weight plates from sliding up and down on each other.

It’s a simple design but that prevents the weights from rattling when I’m using them.

Weight Plate Groove

Every weight plate has a long groove running from the bottom to the center of the plate.

This is smart because I can add/remove plates without having to take out the entire screw.

I just turn the screw enough so that I have space to drop a plate in when adding more weight or take it out when I want to go down in weight.

This is not as fast as other adjustable dumbbells but it does make it so I don’t take forever changing weights.

And if you’re curious about how long it takes to adjust these between sets, I’d say about 10 seconds per side so it’s really not that much.

Locking Screw

eisenlink dumbbells locking screw

The locking screw is what keeps the weight plates tightly packed against each other.

I like that these have a protective coating around them so that it reduces the chances of rusty building up.

Once the summer comes I’ll have to see how they do.

If they are susceptible to rusting, adding a little bit of oil every once in a while should be enough to keep them from getting rusty.

The locking screw goes through the center of each weight plate and into the handle to keep the plates from moving while I use the dumbbells.

Each screw has a wide diameter so I’m certain they can hold the weight plates safely without bending.

The head of each screw is knurled which I find useful.

This allows me to turn the screw tightly so nothing’s loose and on the flip side, I can loosen up the screw without my hand slipping.

Knurled Handle

eisenlink adjustable dumbbells handle

At 7″ long, the handle is spacious and I like the medium knurling on it.

I like the width because if I wanted to go up with small increments, I could throw on some Micro Gainz dumbbell plates and still have room for my hands.

The handle is welded to a plate on each side so by itself, the handle weighs 10 lbs.

This is the only handle that doesn’t have male pieces but it does have female pieces for all other weight plates to connect to it.

Eisenlink Dumbbells Pros & Cons

eisenlink adjustable dumbbells pros and cons

Pros

  • Steel construction: Everything in these dumbbells is made of steel, no plastic parts, making them durable
  • Save space: Each Eisenlink dumbbell is 14″ long so they take up very little space (way less than an entire rack of dumbbells)
  • Traditional dumbbell feel: These feel balance and there’s no cage around them so I get a traditional dumbbell feel
  • Expandable: I can start off with a 50 lbs or 80 lbs dumbbell set then expand to more weight
  • Square shape: Keeps the dumbbells from rolling
  • Rattle: No rattle is felt
  • Secure: Between the male/female pieces and the screwing mechanism, I feel safe using these
  • Price: The 80 lbs set replaces 15 pairs of dumbbells for less than $600

Cons

  • Numbering system: I wish they included a number on the weight plates to make it easier to know what I’m lifting
  • Drop sets: If you like to do drop sets, these won’t adjust as fast as other adjustable dumbbells, but still don’t take very long

The Rep x Pepin adjustable dumbbells are one of the best adjustable dumbbells in the market.

My Hands-On Experience Using Eisenlink Dumbbell

I like the feel of the Eisenlink dumbbells and even though they’re not as quick to adjust as other dumbbells I’ve reviewed, it still doesn’t take very long.

They feel dense and the plates don’t move around when I’m using them.

The squared plate design keeps them from rolling around which is common when you’re in a garage gym.

And the big flat heat on the screw doesn’t dig into my thighs when I set the dumbbells on my thighs.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the Eisenlink dumbbells and for the price, these make a great home gym addition.

Final Verdict: Are Eisenlink Adjustable Dumbbells Worth It?

are eisenlink adjustable dumbbells worth it

For most home gym owners, these are very well worth it.

They strike a good balance between durability, space efficiency, progressive overload, and value.

If you want a traditional dumbbell feel and don’t have space for a full rack of dumbbells, these deliver.
