The Freak Athlete Multi Sled is a freak of nature.
It’s fully modular and can be used on all surfaces.
I can transform it from a heavy-duty, two way push sled to a compact pull sled.
Let’s check it out!

The Freak Athlete Multi Sled version that I got came in three boxes.
Everything came wrapped in plastic and some pieces were bubble wrapped.
I did order all the add ons but I believe the base model comes in one box only.
Here’s everything out of the boxes.
It has a compact design which I really like since sleds can take up a lot of space in a home gym.
When comparing it to the size of my Ethos Power Sled, the Multi Sled is about half the width and also shorter.
And when I say narrow, I really mean narrow.
So narrow that it’s the same width as a small 10 lbs iron weight plate.
Specs
- Weight capacity: 450 lbs
- Sled weight: 30 lbs
- Material: Steel
- Sled dimensions: 30.1″ L x 8.7″ W
- Compatibility: Compatible with Olympic sized weight plates and bumper plates (2″ center hole)
What’s Included?
Base Model
The base sled comes with pulling gear only.
It includes the Multi Sled, middle weight plate post, sled belt, and waist strap.
If you also want to turn it into a pushing sled, Freak Athlete gives you the option to add one or two Y posts.
Here’s a top view of the Multi Sled.
It has five post slots: one in the middle and two at each end.
Middle slot is for the weight plate post.
Once I add a bumper plate to the middle post, you can see the other 4 circular slots beside it.
Here’s a close up of those circular slots.
Those post slots are for the Y posts used for pushing (Y posts are sold separately).
At each end of the Multi Sled there’s a lip with an oval hole in the middle.
That’s where you connect the sled belt with a carabiner for pulls.
The bottom of the Freak Athlete Multi Sled is all metal.
So the base model can be used on grass, turf, or carpet.
I also purchased the add on sled skis which are two pieces of UHMW plastic so I can use it on concrete.
I’ll show you those later.
Waist Strap
The waist strap is a velcro strap with a big D-ring on one end.
The inside of the strap is lined with neoprene padding for comfort.
When the D-ring is in the front I can use it for reverse sled pulls to focus on the front of my legs.
And when I turn it to the back I can do pulls focusing on my posterior chain muscles like hamstrings, calves, glutes.
Multi Sled Add Ons
All Surface Sled Skis
These are the UHMW sled skis that I tacked on to my purchase.
All I had to do was set them on the back of the Multi Sled and screwed them on.
Now the sled is ready to use on any surface.
Y Posts For Sled Pushes
If you wanna do sled pushes, then you need at least one Y post.
These posts are tall so I can use them at different heights but they do take up a lot of space.
I got both Y posts but if you wanted to save some money and space, all you need is one since they are detachable.
I did have to put the Y posts together but it was easy.
From a shipping stand point this saves money since all parts can be packaged in a smaller box.
I just had to connect each post to the base with a screw.
They provided all the hardware.
Once they’re screwed on, I just match male and female pieces.
Insert the cylindrical pieces into the slots on the sled.
Once in the slots there’s nothing to tighten.
It’s now ready for sled pushes.
Here’s what the push pull set up looks like if I only had one Y post.
I can use that same Y post on the opposite end.
Since I got both Y posts here’s what that looks like.
Probably not necessary to have both but this saves me time and energy when sled pushes are kicking my ass.
This way I don’t have to pull out the Y post from one end and insert it on the other side.
Exercises With The Multi Sled
Everything on the Freak Athlete website is based off the Knees Over Toes Guy programming.
This is why the base model of the multi sled is a simple pull sled (sled, sled belt, and waist strap).
Knees Over Toes Guy emphasizes reverse sled pulls to build the quads to reduce and prevent knee pain.
Reverse Sled Pulls and Sled Pushes
I use the Multi Sled for both pushing and pulling exercises.
And I can even do both types of exercises back to back.
Push one way using the Y posts and pull the other way with the sled belt attached.
This not only targets the entire lower body but you’ll improve your conditioning dramatically.
Other Freak Athlete Equipment
With time, Freak Athlete has evolved and now carries more multi-use equipment.
They’ve gotten rid of smaller equipment like their slant blocks, step up boards, and tri-flexor.
And their current focus is on new equipment like the Freak Athlete Hyper Pro (9-in-1 machine), wheelbarrow sled, and Nordic mini.
Freak Athlete Multi Sled Pros & Cons
Pros
- Compact: The multi sled doesn’t take up a lot of space
- Modular: All posts (weight plate post and Y posts) can be detached and sled belt can be used on both ends
- Material: Made out of solid steel for durability
- Versatile: Can be used for pushing and pulling sled exercises
- All-Terrain: With the addition of the sled skis I can use this on every type of surface (grass, turf, concrete, etc)
Cons
- Y Posts: Adding the Y posts increases the space the multi sled takes up significantly but they are detachable

Freak Athlete Multi Sled Review
I like how you can customize this sled to fit your training.
It can be used for pushing and pulling in all types of surfaces.
All its pieces can be detached making it easy to switch them from one side of the sled to the other.
Having the ability to remove all its parts also makes it easy to store so that it’s not taking up a lot of space.
This thing can do it all and you will get your ass kicked!
