All 8 rings came in a small box.
I opened the box and each ring was individually wrapped in its own plastic bag.
I took them out of the box and here’s what that looks like.
Each ring has the resistance level embossed on one side of the ring so it’s easy to keep track of which one I’m using.
And even though there’s nothing fancy about them, they’re tough to squeeze.
Especially since the hardest one goes up to 120 lbs of resistance.
One thing I did notice, is that they come with a light dust similar to what you find on rubber tires.
This happened when I first used them but that went away after using them a couple of times.
There’s also a very mild rubber smell but nothing like the strong chemical smell like when I first got horse stall mats for my garage.

What Are The Gripzilla Grip Rings?
Gripzilla grip rings are a grip strengthening tool that’s made out of a tough rubber.
They come in a pack of 8 rings ranging from 40 to 120 lbs so they’re useful regardless of your level of strength.
I can see these being useful in a rehabilitation setting, to strength train, and even for stress relief.
I’m gonna break them down in 3 separate levels ranging from beginner to advanced…
Beginners
For beginners, Gripzilla recommends going with the 40, 50, and 60 lbs grip rings.
The 40 lbs ring feels relatively easy but once I get to the 60 lbs, I start to pay more attention.
These feel good to warm up with and I can see them being useful in a rehab setting to build up strength.
Intermediate
The intermediate rings are 70, 80, and 90 lbs.
They’re more challenging than the previous three and definitely make me work.
For me, these are hard enough to get a good number of challenging reps in.
Advanced
The advanced level has two grip rings: 100 lbs and 120 lbs.
Currently, these are too tough for me cause I can barely dent the ring without throwing my whole body into one rep.
So for now, these are not what I’m working with.
I can see these being very good for those who train grip strength without having to pinch and lift any weight off the floor.
Top Benefits Of The Gripzilla Grip Rings
Increased Grip Strength
The biggest benefit out of the grip rings is increased grip strength which translates to everything I do in and out of the gym.
As you see in the pic above, the ring collapses down when I squeeze it.
It’s a simple exercise but it gets tiring the more you do it.
And once I find a weight range too easy, I can go up to the next weight range so I can progressively overload.

Compact
This is how the 100 lbs ring fits in my hand and as far as I can see with my naked eye, they’re all about the same circumference.
So they’re small enough that I can get my hand around them to get a good squeeze.
And small enough to fit in my pocket so I can carry this around with me and work on my grip anywhere.
Best Features Of The Gripzilla Grip Rings
Thick Rubber
The rings are made of a tough, durable rubber.
There’s no way I’ll ever rip through these just by squeezing them so as far as durability goes, these are legit.
Especially as I go up in resistance, they get harder to bend.
Non-Slip Grip
Gripzilla is using a rubber that’s non-slip and on one side of the rings there are circular ridges for extra grip.
There’s a total of 5 circular ridges around the center hole which are similar to the ridges seen on slam balls.
And even though the rubber is not slippery, it’s never a bad thing to have extra grip especially for people with small hands.
Exercises Using The Grip Rings
I use the rings in two different ways: For reps and static holds.
On the side of the box you’ll see instructions on how to do these exercises.
When I squeeze them for reps, I pick a resistance that I can do from 8 – 10 reps until that feels too easy.
If I train for static holds, I squeeze and hold for at least 8 seconds and repeat that 8 – 10 times.
Both ways feel great and give me one hell of a forearm pump.

- Progressive: I like that there is a resistance range for beginners to advanced grip trainers and with room to get stronger progressively
- Durable: Rings are made out of thick rubber making them hard to bend and break (better than silicone rings)

- Comfortable: Circular design fits comfortably in my hands
- Portable: Easy to carry anywhere, I usually carry one on me and just squeeze as often as possible
Cons
- Increments: 10 lbs increments may be too big of a jump for beginners
- Black dust: The rings come covered in some black dust but that goes away after a couple of uses

My Experience Using The Gripzilla Grip Rings
I mainly use the 60 lbs ring to challenge my grip.
It’s a resistance that’s not too easy and one that’s not too much so it challenges me enough to get a good workout in.
And the best part, is that this is one exercise I can mindlessly do at any time.
Whether I’m sitting around watching tv or getting some steps in, I’m squeezing away and constantly working on my grip.
