Major Fitness did well with the packaging and everything was in mint condition.
The top layer had the backrest and seat pad covered in plastic.
And right below they had the frame covered in plastic and surrounded with styrofoam blocks.
The majority of the bench comes pre-assembled which is great.
There’s only four parts and 6 bolts so I timed myself to see how long it would take to assemble.
And it only took 8 minutes!
I’ve reviewed and tested a lot of home gym equipment, and this is one of easiest and fastest assemblies I’ve ever done.
My first impression is that it’s a nice looking bench, feels sturdy, doesn’t wobble, and the padding is comfortable.

Top Benefits Of The Major Fitness Adjustable Bench
Multiple Angles
Best thing about adjustable weight benches is the versatility you get from all the set ups.
Major’s bench has 10 back pad settings and 4 seat pad settings so I have plenty of angles to play with.
In this shot, I have both the seat and back pad inclined.
Here’s the bench on the flat setting…
And there’s even an option for a slight decline setting but Major Fitness doesn’t advertise it as a decline bench.

Stable
The triangular base makes the Major Fitness bench very stable.
I don’t feel any wobble at all when I’m seated nor when I have my back on the back pad.
The bench also has rubberized feet so it’s doesn’t slide around.
Easy To Move
The bench weighs about 62 lbs so it’s not hard to lift but it’s easier to roll it around.
Right below the seat pad there’s a handle.
And at the other end there’s a couple of wheels that are slightly raised off my stall mats.
When I need to move it around, I grab the handle, tilt the bench, the wheels touch my mats, and I can roll it around easily.
Best Features Of The Major Fitness Bench
Frame
The frame design and build quality makes this a great bench for a home gym.
Its triangular design gives it very good stability and the thickness of the frame can hold a lot of weight.
Adjustments
Adjustable Back Pad
The back pad has 10 adjustments ranging from 90 degrees, to incline, to flat, and even a slight decline.
It’d be nice if Major Fitness added markings showing the angles, but I just eyeball the positions I use the most.
Adjusting the bench is easy…
I lift the back pad or seat pad up and set the support arm at the angle I want.
There’s no knobs to tighten so I can make adjustments quickly.
This makes it easy to switch from an exercise like shoulder presses at about 85 degrees…
To a flat bench at zero degrees without having to pull out pins or tighten knobs.
Adjustable Seat Pad
The adjustment mechanism is the same for the seat pad.
At the lowest setting, the seat is in the flat position.
And I have room to move up the support arm three more spots to incline the seat close to 45 degrees.
I like to set it at full incline when doing incline bench presses.
Padding
The back pad is 31.5″ long, 9″ wide at the top, and 11.5″ wide at the bottom.
Compared to other benches (my PRx bench is 12″ wide), the top is narrow so it gives my shoulders more freedom to move when benching.
Especially when I use adjustable dumbbells where my range of motion is greater so I can get a bigger stretch.
If you have shoulder issues, this might not be the right width for you because you’ll have less shoulder support.
The padding is 2.5″ thick so it provides plenty of support and feels comfortable.
I’ll have to see how the upholstery holds up over time but so far so good.
The seat pad is 10.5″ wide at the top and tapers down to 8.5″ wide at the bottom.
It has the same 2.5″ thickness as the back pad.
Major Fitness Bench Alternatives
Powerblock Sport Bench
The Powerblock Sport bench has a similar triangular frame and adjustable back pad and seat pad.
It doesn’t have as many adjustments as Major Fitness’ bench but it’s still a solid bench.
One thing the Powerblock Sport bench has though, is the ability to add attachments to the frame.
Powerblock sells a dip bar, pull up bar, and decline sit up bench attachments that connect to the frame of the bench for more versatility.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Adjustable: Lots of adjustments so I can do just about any exercise, no true decline
- Stable: Doesn’t wobble or slide around

- Weight capacity: Frame feels sturdy so I’m confident it can handle a lot of weight (rated for 1300 lbs)
- Easy to move: Light weight, handle and wheels make it easy to roll around
Cons
- Storage: It’d be great if Major Fitness made this bench so that it could stand up vertically to save space
- Back pad: Narrow back pad may not be good for people who have shoulder injuries
