Micro Gainz Dumbbell Plates For Nuobell

Yup, Micro Gainz dumbbell plates for Nuobell adjustable dumbbells are now a thing!

This instantly doubles the amount of weight you can use with Nuobells making them even more versatile.

Very innovate move by Micro Gainz and I think they’ll continue this trend of making customized dumbbell plates to meet specific designs.

Micro Gainz Original Dumbbell Plates

In my Micro Gainz dumbbell add on plates review, I wrote that the original Micro Gainz plates don’t work with Nuobells because of their short handle.

This is because of the twisting handle mechanism in these dumbbells that extends into the handle.

So Micro Gainz took advantage of the space available on top of Nuobells to create magnetic fractional weight plates specific to this design.

Above I included a pic of how the new 1.25 lbs Micro Gainz dumbbell fractional weight plates fits on the Nuobell dumbbells.

And it fits just like a puzzle piece…

Excellent design by Micro Gainz and they’re held in place with 4 strong magnets so they’re not going anywhere.

Specs

  • Weight plates: 1.25 lbs, 1/2″ thick
  • Design: Half moon shape designed specifically to fit Nuobell dumbbells
  • Finish: Matte black powder coat finish
  • Magnets: Four strong N52 magnets placed in the back of the plate
  • Raised tab: Allows for easy removal of the plate by pushing it with my thumb

How The Nuobell Add On Plates Work

Watch the video above where you can see how quick and easy it is to to add and remove these fractional weight plates from Nuobells.

And yes, they stay on there securely so they won’t fall on your while you’re working out.

This is possible because Micro Gainz added 4 N52 neodymium magnets on the back of the plates.

They’re the strongest magnets available so you have nothing to worry about.

Double Your Nuobell Dumbbells

Nuobells range from 5 to 80 lbs in 5 lbs increments so they replace 16 pairs of dumbbells.

By adding Micro Gainz add on plates to them, I double the amount of dumbbells I have in the same space.

This gives me the ability to make micro jumps which come in handy especially as I get heavier in weight and close to PR’s.

Here’s an example when doing shoulder presses….

If I struggle to go up from 70 to 75 lbs, I can add Micro Gainz plates and now I have 71.25 lbs and 72.5 lbs available so I can continue to progressively overload and continue to get all my reps in.

What’s The Price?

Micro Gainz sells 4 plate Nuobell plates for $84.99 which is a good price considering a set doubles the dumbbells.

They also sell a 2 plate set for $44.99 (I don’t know anyone who just owns one adjustable dumbbell but the option’s there…)

I like where Micro Gainz is going with these customized fractional dumbbell plates and can’t wait to see what else they come up with.
