In this NecksLevel Glide review I’m going in depth on this neck strengthening device that’s made to target neck muscles in isolation.

So if you’re someone who suffers from poor range of motion, stiffness, and lack neck strength, this may be a good fit for you.

I like that it’s buttery smooth and gives me the ability to add resistance bands progressively.

Let’s check it out!

Unboxing

unboxing the neckslevel glide

When I unboxed the NecksLevel Glide it came inside a travel bag and looked very well packaged.

They added a couple of cardboard pieces on each end so it fits tightly inside the box and does not shift during travel.

This might not seem like a big deal but I’ve reviewed many products that weren’t packaged tightly that came damaged so the details matter.

First impressions when I took the product out of the box is that everything about it looks and feels high quality.

Even the travel bag is not the usual cheap bag I see used by most gym equipment companies.

So far I’m impressed since this is not a bargain buy…

And here’s everything that comes inside the bag.

The NecksLevel Glide with resistance bands, a headband, a scrunchie, and I also bought the advanced resistance band set.

When I flip it upside down, each corner has a rubber foot to keep it from sliding.

Later on I’ll show you how to change to stronger resistance bands while the product is upside down.

It comes with a user manual and two cards with rehab protocols.

I like that everything is simple to understand with drawings and explanations of the exercises.

Plus they include QR codes that take me to step-by-step videos where they walk me through the set up and how to’s.

What Is The NecksLevel Glide?

NecksLevel is a neck strengthening device that uses resistance bands and a gliding mechanism for isolation neck exercises in all ranges of motion.

Because exercises are done lying down, the device eliminates gravity making it easier to have full control of the exercises and target deep neck muscles.

This helps to decrease neck pain and stiffness, improve range of motion and posture, and strengthens the neck.

How Does NecksLevel Work?

how does neckslevel work

I can use the NecksLevel is two ways: (1) to stretch my neck, improve range of motion, mobility and (2) to strengthen my neck.

To keep things short, my head rests on a pad that glides side to side and I can do this without resistance for stretches and warming up.

Or I can do it with resistance to strengthen my neck muscles concentrically, eccentrically, and isometrically.

neckslevel resistance bands

Right in the middle of the pad there’s a slot where I can lock in a resistance band.

Each resistance band has a bubbled middle that fits into the slot and anchors the band down.

The bands are color coded based on their resistance level:

  • Yellow band: 1 lbs
  • Red band: 2.5 lbs
  • Green band: 4 lbs

Now that I have a red band in place I can start exercising.

I put the headband on just to make sure I have a good grip between my dome and the pad, but it’s not necessary unless I’m really slipping.

For this demo I’m gonna do neck rotations just to show you how the bands work.

Later on I’ll show you other exercises so I can work my neck from all angles to hit different muscles and get a full neck workout.

neckslevel exercises

As I turn my head to the left, the pad glides to the right, and the resistance band stretches.

The more the resistance band stretches, the harder the exercise gets.

This may not seem like a lot of weight compared to plate loaded neck strengtheners but because my head is resting, the neck muscles are isolated and feel harder.

And as I get stronger, I can move up to the next resistance band or even the advanced resistance band set.

Advanced Resistance Bands Set

neckslevel advanced resistance band set

The advanced resistance band set is well worth it because it helps me to keep overloading my muscles as I get stronger.

It comes with a 3 piece set of bands that’s also color coded:

  • Blue band: 5 lbs
  • Black band: 6.5 lbs
  • Grey band: 8 lbs

To use the advanced bands I have to remove the original bands from the NecksLevel Glider.

To do this, I flip the product upside down and go to the ends of each resistance band.

Just like the middle of each band, both ends have a bubble that locks down the bands in place as they stretch.

So when I wanna switch to the advanced bands, I pull each end out.

When I pull out the ends you can see there’s a notch where the bands sit.

And since the ends are bubbled, they won’t slip off under resistance.

And here’s what the advanced resistance bands set looks like after I put them all on.

Works just like the standard resistance bands except they are harder to move.

The NecksLevel Glide doesn’t come with the advanced bands so I had to purchase these separately.

But they do come with the NecksLevel Glide Pro.

Top Benefits Of NecksLevel Glide

Eliminates Gravity

neckslevel glide benefits

Lying down eliminates the weight of my head.

This helps me to relax my neck muscles so I can isolate them.

With my neck muscles relaxed, I can move them with less restriction and I can get greater range of motion throughout the exercises.

Isolation

The glider allows me to isolate just the neck muscles.

Above I’m doing resisted neck extensions with just my neck muscles.

If I was doing neck extensions with a weight plate off the edge of a bench, I’d be recruiting my arms, shoulders, and middle back to hold the weight.

With the gliding motion, my entire body is relaxed and all I’m focusing on is my neck.

Best Features Of NecksLevel Glide

Resistance Bands

The resistance bands are what give me the ability to overload my muscles.

And I can use them in different ways…

  • Concentrically: I feel resistance through full range of motion
  • Eccentrically: I can overload the negative portion of the movement
  • Isometrically: I can resist movement against resistance

Each resistance band goes up in small increments so I can slowly build my strength without overdoing it.

Glider

Whether I’m using the product to warm up without bands or using it with the bands on, the glider feels super smooth.

It’s hard to get a clear look at the gliding mechanism under the pad but it looks like they’re using wheels.

Whatever it is, it’s buttery smooth and doesn’t jerk at all.

Padding

neckslevel glide padding

Since my head is in direct contact with the pad at all times, this must be comfortable.

And it is…

The pad seems is about 1/2″ in thickness and seems like it’s made out of closed cell foam which is good so it won’t absorb my sweat or skin oils.

It also rebounds back to its original shape without leaving any indentations so I’m happy with the quality of the pad.

NecksLevel Exercises

Stretch Mode

The NecksLevel rehab protocol uses stretch and strength modes.

For stretch mode, I remove the resistance bands from the glider and use it to move freely so I can get full range of motion.

I can do the exercises either on my back or on my stomach.

Above you can see how I’m able to move through full neck rotation because the glider keeps moving with my head rested on it.

This helps me to warm up, decreases stiffness and pain, and at the same time improves my range of motion.

Strength Mode

Rotation

For strength mode I attach the resistance bands.

Above I’m doing neck rotations concentrically on both sides.

To do them isometrically or eccentrically, I just slide the glider to one side with my hands and resist the band trying to pull me back to the center.

Lateral Flexion

neckslevel exercises lateral flexion

For lateral flexion exercises I tilt the NecksLevel Glide at about a 45 degree angle.

This allows me to bring my ear toward my shoulder while my head is supported and against resistance.

I set the bottom corner just above my shoulder so the glider goes past my shoulder joint without touching it.

Here’s what that looks like…

I used the headband for this exercise so my head doesn’t slip on the pad.

You can see the glider is angled in a way were it doesn’t hit my shoulder when I tilt my head.

That’s important so I can get full range of motion.

Flexion

For neck flexion exercises I use the short end of the pad.

So when I tuck my chin, the glider moves towards my feet under resistance.

It’s a small movement but specific to the neck flexors.

Extension

Similar setup for neck extensions.

I set the back of my head very close to the edge on the short side of the glider.

If the glider is hitting your upper back then you’re too high on the padding and you need to move more towards the edge to get full of range of motion.

NecksLevel Glide Pros & Cons

neckslevel pros and cons

Pros

  • Isolation: Neck muscles are isolated when my head is supported so exercises feel challenging
  • Progressive overload: Multiple bands give me different resistance ranges so I can keep getting stronger
  • Padding: Very comfortable, high quality padding that goes back to its original shape after I use it
  • Stable: Rubber feet keep it from sliding while I’m using it
  • Ease of use: It’s a simple machine and NecksLevel has plenty of visual and video tutorials that walk me through setup, exercises, and protocols

Cons

  • Price: Not a cheap product but more affordable than frequent visits to a chiropractor or physical therapist (see discount below)

NecksLevel Glide Price

neckslevel glide price

The current price of the NecksLevel Glide is $375 and comes as a bundle.

This bundle includes the device, headband, carrying pouch, and rehab protocols.

For a premium product, this is a fair price considering the price for an initial consultation with a physical therapist is about $300.

With this being a one time investment, it is more economical than multiple physical therapy visits.

NecksLevel Glide Alternatives

Iron Neck

iron neck reviews

The Iron Neck is a neck strengthener that goes on my head like a halo.

It uses bands as resistance and allows 360 degrees of rotational resistance.

The Strong Neck

the strong neck review iron neck alternative

The Strong Neck is a plate loaded neck strengthening tool that’s super simple.

It’s a weight horn with padding right below it.

I insert an Olympic weight plate into it and hang my head off a weight bench in a direction I want.

The Mad Neck

the mad neck reviews

The Mad Neck is another plate loaded neck strengthener but it has a curved base.

This curved base is meant to make it easier to roll on my head as I go through different neck range of motion exercises.

I find it requires more balance than other tool especially if I go real heavy.

My Experience Using NecksLevel Glide

neckslevel glide reviews 22

I’ve used several plate loaded neck strengthening devices and they work but don’t isolate deep neck muscles.

I like how smooth and controlled the exercises feel with the NecksLevel Glider.

And having the ability to increase resistance in small increments, lets me work my way up in a controlled manner.

Who Is The NecksLevel Glide For?

This is for people who want to improve range of motion, decrease stiffness, reduce pain, and increase strength in their neck.

It’s a way to exercise my neck from home without having to spend a ton of money on chiropractor or physical therapy visits.

It is not for gym bros who like to do plate loaded neck exercises or bodybuilders looking for muscular hypertrophy.

But it’ll get your neck less stiff, moving better, and stronger.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy NecksLevel Glide?

is the neckslevel glide worth it

If you’re looking for a way to relieve neck pain from home, the NecksLevel Glider is a solid neck strengthening device.

It supports your head so that all your neck muscles are relaxed while still being able to get full range of motion and resistance.

I like having the ability to change resistance bands so it keeps challenging me as I get stronger.

Quality wise, everything from the packaging to the product is top notch.
