NordStick OmniBand Pro Review

The NordStick OmniBand Pro was originally designed as a way to make Nordic curl progressions easier.

And it does it very well in a progressive way so I can build up hamstrings strength incrementally.

It uses a combination of progress markings on the mounting strap and assistance by using one or two bands to reduce my bodyweight.

On top of that, I can attach it to a door or weight rack for resistance band workouts so it offers a lot of value.

Let’s check it out!

What Is The NordStick OmniBand Pro?

what is the nordstick omniband pro

The OmniBands Pro are a set of multi-purpose resistance bands that give me the ability to regress Nordic curls in a similar way that adjustable nordic benches do.

Best part about it is that they help me assist Nordic curls in a measurable way and at less than $40, it is easy on my pockets.

On top of that, I can use them as regular resistance bands.

I can use it as a single band, loop them for more resistance, or stack them together for a bigger challenge.

With a universal anchor strap, I can use the bands on a door, pull up bar, or weight rack.

Nordic Curl Regressions

nordic curl regressions

OmniBand Pro uses a trackable way to incrementally increase/decrease the assistance needed to practice Nordic curls until I no longer need the bands.

If you look at the anchor strap, it has horizontal marks sewn into it.

The shorter I make the anchor strap, the more resistance I get from the bands.

As I get stronger, I can release the strap down to the next line so my hamstrings have to work a little bit more than before.

nordic curl progressions

Once I find a line to be my starting point, I insert each into a looped resistance band.

Each looped band has purple loop in the middle where I can insert my thumbs to prevent the bands from slipping.

These center loops also work to attach handles which I’ll show you later…

As I lower into a Nordic curl, the harder it gets for my hamstrings and this is where the OmniBand Pro helps me out the most.

The bands feel very comfortable around my arms and they feel strong enough that I don’t feel like they’re gonna snap and I’m gonna face plant.

Once I’m strong enough, I can progress to just using one OmniBand so that my hamstrings take on a bigger load.

For this set up, I loop the band under my arm pits.

Here’s what that looks like when I’m doing my Nordic curls.

And again, one band is strong enough to support my weight but my goal is to use as much hamstrings strength as possible and not rely so much on the band.

Versatile

nordstick omniband pro resistance bands

Aside from using the bands for Nordic curls, I can use them like regular resistance bands by clipping handles to them.

I can set the bands at different lengths and stack them so that I get different resistance levels from the two band set.

This is one band fully stretched out and this provides the lightest resistance.

But remember, each band has a center loop so I can use that to make the band shorter and increase resistance.

Here I anchored the handle to the center of one band so now this is harder than pulling the band from the end.

Notice how the end is just hanging so if I wanted to double the resistance of this half band, I can anchor down the loose end.

And here’s what that looks like…

So from one band I get three bands at difference resistances (full length band, half band, double band).

If I wanted even more resistance, I can stack the other resistance band and repeat the process.

Above I have a looped band plus half of the other band anchored to one handle.

And here I have both bands looped in half for max resistance.

So one set of OmniBands can replace a whole set of resistance bands.

Only downside to any band is that I can’t tell the exact amount of resistance I’m working with so I just go with what feels hard for me.

Best Features Of The NordStick OmniBand Pro

Progression Tracking Marks

nordstick omniband pro anchor strap

The tracking lines on the anchor strap is what makes the band system special when it comes to Nordic curls.

They’re the equivalent of the angle increments on adjustable Nordic curl benches, where I decrease the angle of incline by 5% as I get stronger.

Each horizontal line on the strap makes the full Nordic curl a little bit harder while the bands still provide assistance.

Protective Outer Sleeve

As far as longevity on the bands goes, I like that NordStick added an outer sleeve around them.

This protects the bands and also protects me by creating a barrier in case the bands were to snap.

Multi-Anchor Strap

The anchor strap’s end makes it possible for me to anchor it down in several places.

At the very end, there’s a door stop sewn into it so that I can use it anywhere there’s a door.

Right below the sewn-in door stop, there’s a loop that I can use to anchor the strap to a pull up bar or upright.

This works best when I use it at the top and sides of a door since those areas are tight when the door is shut.

But not so much at the bottom where there’s a bigger gap.

To anchor the strap on a pull up bar, I toss the strap over the bar and thread it through the loop.

Then I attach the bands to the strap for assisted Nordic curls or any resistance band exercise like tricep pushdowns or lat pulldowns.

And it works the same way when I want to attach it to an upright.

This is my favorite anchor point because I can attach leg rollers to the upright to anchor my legs when doing Nordic curls.

Handles

I got the optional handles so I can use the bands for upper body exercises.

The handles have a thick heavy duty straps, solid carabiners, and rubberized handles that are grippy and very comfortable.

How To Do Nordic Curls At Home

how to do nordic curls at home

Here’s how I like to do Nordic curls at home using the OmniBand Pro and a minimalistic set up for my legs.

The leg roller I use is the NordBar and the knee pad is the AbMat.

I can also do this on a weight bench but then I don’t get as much assistance from the bands if I set up higher, so for beginners the floor is better.

  • Versatile: Not only can I use this for assisted Nordics but I can also do regular resistance band exercises
  • Protective band sleeves: Sleeves around the bands increase longevity and protect me if the bands were to snap
  • Price: For under $40, these are great to build up to a flat Nordic curls (way cheaper than an adjustable Nordic curl bench)

OmniBand Pro Price

A set of OmniBands sells for $39.99 which I think is a great deal.

If you want to add handles for the bands, the price goes up to $60.

I gotta say the handles are real nice and have a very comfortable grip to them so it’s definitely worth to upgrade if you want to use these like regular resistance bands.

My Experience Using The NordStick OmniBand Pro

nordstick omniband pro reviews

I mainly use these for assisted Nordic curls and they work great for them.

The horizontal marks on the anchor strap allow me to measure my progress little by little and as I get stronger, I can go from two bands to one.

Simple but great design and I can see this being a great companion to the Knees Over Toes Guy program where Nordic curls are prescribed.
