The PowerBlock Sport bench is an adjustable bench that does more than what you initially see.
And I gotta admit…
I didn’t even know PowerBlock sold weight benches, but they actually sell three different ones.
I always knew them for their adjustable dumbbells and adjustable kettlebell.
I’ll show you how much the Sport bench can do with its add-on accessories for a jacked upper body.
Assembly
Table of Contents
The PowerBlock Sport bench comes almost fully assembled.
You’ll need a 9/16″ wrench to tighten the bolts and nuts.
All you need to do is attach a cross legs to the frame on the back pad side and a leg to the seat pad side.
Make sure the warning decal on the cross leg faces up.
Then double check all other bolts to make sure they’re on tightly.
This will reduce any play while using the bench.
Specs
From the floor to the top of the padding, the height of the Sport bench is 16 inches.
It is made of 14 gauge steel with 2″ x 3″ powder coated steel tubing.
Total length in flat position is 50″ long.
The widest part of the bench is near the back leg, which is 21″ wide.
Comes with built-in wheels and handle for easy floor transport.
Weight Capacity
The bench feels very stout and by just carrying it, I would guess it weighs around 50 lbs so it has a solid base.
The weight capacity of the bench is 550 lbs.
The weight capacity is calculated by adding the weight of the person and the weight being lifted.
Feels very comfortable when lifting heavy dumbbells or when using a barbell.

Bench Pad and Upholstery
The bench pad is about 2 inches in thickness.
The widest part of the bench is near the bottom of the back pad, which is 13″ wide.
The upholstery has a contoured design and the stitching is solid.
It has “PowerBlock” embroidered on top of the back pad.
Last bench I remember being this comfortable and nice, is the PRx Performance folding incline bench, but that one attaches to the wall so it’s a different beast.
Moving the Bench
The PowerBlock Sport bench has wheels on the back pad legs.
They’re slightly lifted so that they don’t touch the floor when the bench has both legs down.
The lifted wheels prevents the bench from moving while you exercise.
The seat pad leg has handle welded to it.
When you want to move the bench around just pick up this side of the bench using the handle.
The wheels on the other side will touch the floor and now you can move it around effortlessly.
Sport Bench Positions
The Sport bench has 5 adjustable positions and the seat adjusts as well.
The bench pad goes from flat to 30, 45, 60 degrees, and also military.
It has a slight decline when you disengage the back pad support arm but not enough to call it a true decline.
The seat pad adjusts from flat to incline.
Adjusting the Back Pad
To change levels of incline, FIRST drop the seat pad to the incline position before moving the back pad.
Then lift the back pad and move the lever arm into any of the 5 available metal anchor points.
The 5 angles are flat, 30, 45, 60 degrees, and military.
To change from an incline to a flat position, FIRST lower the back pad, then raise the seat pad to flat.
Adjusting the Seat Pad
The seat pad adjusts from a flat to an incline position.
Right below the seat you’ll see a metal pivot arm that fits into a notch.
To adjust the seat pad, lift the seat slightly then move the pivot arm so that it’s not in the notch.
The seat pad will then rotate downwards into the incline position.
The seat pad incline position was designed to lower your hips and elevate your knees when doing incline bench work.
This lets you sit comfortably and keep your feet on the floor without sliding off the seat.
PowerBlock Sport Bench Attachments
One thing that’s really cool about the Sport bench is that you can add attachments for more upper body work.
As you see in the pic above, the top part of the back frame has a black plastic plug covering the top.
This cover can be removed to insert two attachments: a chin up bar and a dip bar.
Sport Bench Chin Up Attachment
The chin up/pull up attachment gives you the ability to hit your lats and biceps using your bodyweight.
To attach the chin up bar, first move the back pad into the 30 degrees position.
Then slide the attachment into the frame hole.
To make sure it fits snug, turn the knob on the side of the frame for a secure fit.
Now move the bench pad into the military position.
This will put the chin up attachment at the most vertical position.
The chin up bar measures 48″ wide and 82.5″ high with a weight capacity of 250 lbs.
The handles have foam grips for comfort.
Sport Bench Dip Attachment
The dip attachment gives you another option to blast your chest, shoulders, and triceps.
Just like the chin up attachment, you insert it into the frame of the bench.
To set up, first place the incline to 60 degrees.
Remove the plastic plug from the frame and insert the dip attachment.
Once inside the frame, secure it by tightening the tension knob and you’re ready to workout.
The dip bar has foam grips on both handles.
Dimensions are 22.5″ wide and 47.5″ high.
Weight capacity is 250 lbs.
Powerblock Sport Bench Alternatives
Powerblock recently released the Powerblock PowerBench 2.0 and it looks similar to the Sport Bench but there are a few differences.
The PowerBench has a higher weight capacity (1000 lbs), an extra angle (decline), and the back pad is rectangular.
And just like the Sport Bench, this also has the option to add attachments to it.

PowerBlock Sport Bench Review
Overall, the PowerBlock Sport bench feels very sturdy and comfortable.
I like how you can flow from one position to another with one or two adjustments.
Having the option to add a dip and pull up attachment makes the Sport bench very versatile.
Those two attachments can replace stand alone equipment and save a lot of space in your home gym.
One thing I’d like to see PowerBlock improve on, is adding rubber to the bottom of the legs.
I personally don’t have an issue with this since I have thick stall mats on the floor, but the metal legs could slip and scratch some surfaces like hardwood or tile.
Aside from that, the Sport bench is easy to move around with wheels and handle, has thick comfortable padding, and I can see it lasting a lifetime.
