It combines Nordic curls, GHD’s, GHR’s, lower back extensions, and reverse hypers in one unit.

Shogun NordEx Max vs Freak Athlete Apex
The Freak Athlete Apex launched recently so it’s no surprise that Shogun came out with the NordEx Max to stay competitive.
From just looking at pictures, the biggest difference I see between the two machines is the independent dual pendulum arms on the NordEx Max.
Freak Athlete’s version has a single pendulum arm with dual weight horns.
Both machines are looking to tackle the weighted pendulum reverse hyper their previous machines don’t have.

NordEx Max Features
Dual Swing Arms
With dual swing arms you can do unilateral reverse hypers and loaded lower back extensions.
Each arm works independently so that your strong side can’t help your weak side.
Adjustable Back Extension
The back extension is fully adjustable.
Angles can be adjusted from 10° to 58° and the length can be extended from 27.7″ to 41.9″ so it fits most people for proper mechanics.
Dual Rollers & Wide Footplate
Dual rollers are height adjustable to lock your legs in place securely.
Bigger footplate gives you a wider base which many benches don’t have.
This gives you the option to flare your legs out more to target the glutes more.
Hydraulic Assist
With a machine as heavy duty as this one, the addition of a hydraulic system is very useful.
This way there’s less energy wasted on changing angles making it easier to transition from one position to another.
Shogun NordEx Max Price & Discount
With commercial grade quality, you’re not going to get a home gym price for this one.
The NordEx Max retails for $2799 which is about $200 less than the Freak Athlete Apex.
But I’m gonna help you bring that price down a bit more.

My Thoughts On The NordEx Max
It’s no surprise that the NordEx Max is overbuilt since most of Shogun’s products I’ve tried are built to last a lifetime.
As far as having a NordEx Max in a home gym goes, I don’t foresee many home gym owners opening up their wallets to get one.
Not because it’s not a good machine, but because of the commercial gym price and the space limitations home and garage gyms have.
I’m curious to see whether Shogun continues to come out with more commercial gym quality products in the future or if they stay within the home gym bubble.
