The UClips Smile Handle is a combination of a D-handle and hammer grip handle.
I’m really surprised nobody’s come out with a design like this one because it’s so simple and offers more versatility.
It’s one of the heaviest handles so it definitely feels premium, has aggressive volcano knurling, and swivels.
Let’s check it out!

UClips sells the Smile Handles individually or as a pair.
I got the pair because it makes the most sense (I have two hands) and it’s comes out less expensive than buying each one separately.
Each handle comes in its own box.

The Smile handle coms protected in foam even though I don’t think it needs it since it’s mostly metal.
Right off the bat, I really like the knurling on the handle.
It has aggressive knurling and the handle feels heavy so it’s not cheaply made.
What Is The Uclips Smile Handle?

The UClips Smile Handle is a combination of a D-handle and hammer grip handle.
Most D-handles can only be used in the same way but the Smile Handle gives me more bang for my buck (it’s two handles in one).

With the addition of eye bolts on the side, the hammer grip allows for unilateral pushing and pulling exercises without the handle strap getting in the way.
Cable exercises like tricep pushdowns, rear delt flys, kickbacks, and hammer curls feel much better using a hammer grip handle.

Top Benefits Of The UClips Smile Handle
2-in-1

Like other D-handles, I can use the Smile handle for any cable machine exercise or landmine exercises like I do with the UClips Back Bar.
I clip the strap to a carabiner and I’m ready to go.

I can do cable flys, presses, lat pulldowns, seated rows, and anything else you can think of.

But what makes the Smile Handle unique is the eye bolts on the side.
This lets me turn the D-handle into a hammer grip handle.

Now I can do exercises like tricep pushdowns, kickbacks, rear delt flys, hammer curls, and more, without the strap getting in the way.
And without having to buy a separate cable attachment.

Comfortable

You might be asking yourself, can’t I do hammer grip exercises with a regular D-handle?
Yes you can but it’s not comfortable.
If I grip the handle in a vertical position, the weight pulls down on the strap and rubs or pinches down on my fingers.

When I squeeze the handle and strap together, there’s no pinching but it’s all bundled up and it’s not the most comfortable way to grip a handle.

With the Smile Handle, I can clip the cable to the top or bottom of the handle and the strap never gets in the way, giving me the most comfortable grip.
Why haven’t all D-handles been made like this?…
Those eye bolts are such a simple addition that make a D-handle more useful.
Best Features Of The UClips Smile Handle
Volcano Knurling

I really like the aggressive knurling on the handle and it spins freely so it’s easy on my hands and wrists.
It’s so good it feels like I’m holding on to a barbell.
Eye Bolts

The eye bolts are a genius idea.
They’re thick and wide so just about any size carabiner can fit in them.

Once I flip the handle vertically, it gives me the ability to do exercises in a more ergonomic and comfortable way than with regular D-handles.

Stopper

The plastic stoppers on each end give my hands additional support so I’m not just relying on my grip strength when I go heavy.

So when I’m doing something like kickbacks, the bottom of my hand is always supported.
Works the same way on the top end when I’m doing pulling exercises like hammer curls.
Swivel
Both the eye bolts and the handle have free rotation in 360 degrees.
This reduces the strain on my hands and wrists because the handle moves with me without having to fight the cable machine’s resistance.

Bullet Pulley Pistol Grip Handles

The Bullet Pulley Pistol Grip Handles are a pair of ergonomic cable attachments.
What’s unique about these handles, is that I can connect both carabiners to a cable machine like a regular handle…
Or I can attach only one strap and use the handle as a hammer grip handle.
So just like the Smile Handle, it’s a 2-in-1 handle.
Prime Fitness Kaz Handles

Prime Fitness Kaz Handles work the same way as the Pistol Grip handles.
The biggest difference is the handle shape and price.
Kaz Handles are cone shaped, made out of metal, and knurled.
As far as the price goes, Prime sells this one for $125.
My Experience Using The UClips Smile Handles

This is one of those handles you knew you needed until you have it.
D-handles are a dime a dozen but having the hammer grip option makes some exercises feel better.
I’ve enjoyed using the hammer grip for hammer curls, rear delt flys, tricep pushdowns (unilaterally and bilaterally), kickbacks, and…
They’ve become my favorite handles when using my Voltra cable machine as a Ski Erg.
Should You Buy The UClips Smile Handle?

If you use D-handles in your training, I don’t see why you wouldn’t want some that do more.
I can use like regular D-handles with cable machines and landmine attachments, then flip them around to use as hammer grips for isolation exercises.
The knurling feels awesome and they’re heavy duty.
Only thing you don’t get with them is carabiners but you can find those at any hardware store if you don’t already own some.
