The Evolve Over pull up bar is an adjustable doorway pull up bar that doesn’t require any screws or drilling.
You can also use it in hallways with solid walls.
In this review, I’ll show you how its screw-less mechanism makes the Evolve Over pull up bar different from other doorframe pull up bars.
Most doorway pull up bars are a one trick pony, but this bar is different.
It can be attached anywhere up and the down your doorframe.
That gives you the ability to hit a TON of muscle groups from different angles with one piece of equipment.
Unboxing
The pull up bar comes packed in between styrofoam so it’s well protected and ready to use right out of the box.
There’s no assembly required.
When I picked it up it felt very solid and heavy for a pull up bar.
Right away I knew it was built strong and made me feel safe that it won’t bend when I’m hanging from it.
How Does Evolve Over Pull Up Bar Work?
The Evolve Over pull up bar uses a gravity tightening mechanism to maintain a secure grip against your doorway or hallway.
First, you turn the middle of the bar until both ends are tightly touching the door frame.
Then flip down the clamps on each end to lock it in place securely.
That’s all there’s to it!
When you hang from it, the gravitational force is spread outwards towards the door frame.
This means the more you weigh, the more the pull up bar will press into the door frame.
Genius design with safety in mind.
Evolve Over Pull Up Bar Sizes
The pull up bar is adjustable and can fit in most doorways and hallways.
But it also comes in 2 different lengths, short and long.
The short bar will work for the majority of door frames.
The long bar can be used in hallways and wide door frames.
- Short bar: Fits doorways between 28.3″ and 36.2″ (72cm-92cm)
- Long bar: Fits wide door frames between 36.22″ and 47.24″ (92-120cm)
If you plan to use it on walls, make sure you place it where there are wall studs or solid concrete.
DO NOT attempt to put this on a spot where there’s hollow drywall or you’ll crack right through it.
Is the Evolve Over Pull Up Bar Safe?
Of course everyone is going to ask this with no screw pull up bars.
And to answer your question, yes, the Evolve Over pull up bar is very safe.
It uses a secure lock mechanism that clamps down like a buckle.
And after it’s locked, the bar pushes outward when your weight is on it.
How To Set Up The Pull Up Bar
Unlock the bar by flipping the clamp locks up.
Once you determine where you want to place the bar, turn both ends until they touch the door frame.
Continue turning both ends until they fit snug and you can’t turn them anymore.
Now start turning the center of the bar until you can’t anymore.
This will add even more outward forces to the door frame.
Once you can’t turn the bar, flip both locks down tightly.
If you do this correctly, you can rest assured the bar won’t move at all.
On top of that, it comes with thick and large silicon pads at the ends that prevent the bar from slipping.
With these anti-slip silicone pads, the heavier you are, the more friction that’s generated and the more stable the bar will be.
It’s also made from chrome-plated stainless steel so it’s not going to bend or rust.
As far as your grip goes, it comes with two velcro adjustable grips that seem to be made out of neoprene material.
They can be moved from one of the bar to the other so you can change hand widths.
How Much Weight Can It Handle?
The Evolve Over’s weight limit has been tested to hold up to 440 lbs so I doubt you’ll ever exceed that.
If your own bodyweight becomes too easy, you can even throw on a weighted vest to make the exercises more challenging.
Pull Up Bar Exercises
Talk about having versatility!
In the video above you’ll see why the Evolve Over Pull Up bar is considered one of the best around.
You’ll see me do 43 exercises at different heights within the doorframe and using different accessories.
Does It Damage Door Frames?
The ends are made of a really thick silicon pads that are skid resistant but also cushion the force against the door frame.
As long as your door frame is solid, it shouldn’t damage it.
As far as leaving marks on the door frame, I didn’t have any problem with that either.
Evolve Over vs Other Pull Up Bars
Because the Evolve Over pull up bar is easily adjustable without the need to unscrew anything, you can set it at different heights on your doorway.
This allows you to easily switch from one exercise to the other in a matter of seconds.
You can use the Evolve Over for pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, hanging leg raises, dips, chin-ups, stretches, and any calisthenics exercises you can think of.
You can even hang rings or suspension straps from it, making it extremely versatile.
I’ve also used hanging pull up bars like the Rogue Fitness pull up system and Evolve Over offers more stability since it’s not hanging on straps.
Pull Up Bars With No Screws
Other pull up bars with no screws like the one shown above are easy to set up.
Throw it over the door frame and you’re ready to workout.
But for the most part, they’re just made for pull ups.
Yeah you can do push ups and dips on them if you put it on the floor but that’s about it.
You don’t have the versatility to hang it at different heights on the door frame like you do with the Evolve Over.
Pull Up Handles
Then you have pull up handles like the CrossGrips.
These are a combination of push up bars and handles you can anchor to your door frame.
Yes, they take up less room than a regular pull up bar but again, you can’t anchor them at different heights on your door frame.
So again, you’re limited to the amount of exercises you can do on them.
Pull Up Bar With Screws
And then you have the old school pull up bar with screws.
This one’s permanently fixed to one location so the room for additional exercises decreases even more than the previous pull up bars.

Evolve Over Pull Up Bar Conclusion
If you need a pull up bar that doesn’t require drilling holes in your walls and one you can effortlessly attach to your door frame, the Evolve Over is it!
The best thing about it, is that you have so many options for exercises because it’s not screwed to one spot.
You can easily slide it up and down your door frame (or any solid opposing walls) to move from one exercise to the next so you hit different muscle groups.
I can also see this being a great option for people who travel often and want to continue working out while on the road.
When you’re done, just turn the bar to take it down or leave it up there for your next workout.

This product does NOT work on all hallways. While installing the bar, the tension was to high it broke a hole into my wall without me even hanging on it. The wall cost me 200$ to fix. I emailed evolve asking for a refund given that there was ZERO warning this could happen and was told I needed to ship the product back to them in protective packaging which would have cost me another 50$. If you don’t intend on using this in a door way, DO NOT get this product. Complete safety hazard and terrible customer support
You have to use it on a portion of the wall that has a wall stud behind it or a solid concrete wall.
You can’t do it directly on drywall because the outward pressure it uses to hold you up is too much.
