BEST Weighted Vest Plate Carrier Unbroken Shop Review

Best Weighted Vest Under $100

If you’ve been on the hunt for the best weighted vest, you’ve probably said to yourself, “why are these so expensive”?

I said the same thing…

Some vests come with weights already included and others like the tactical vests used in CrossFit competitions, require special flat weight plates that are sold separately.

For a lot of these vests, you’re paying for the vest and the weights, which is why they charge a lot for them.

If they don’t come with weights, then you’ll have to buy special flat weight plates for them which can be as much as $3 a pound per plate! (Insane)

But after researching for a while, I finally found the best weighted vest that does not break the bank.

This vest does not require any special weights or sandbags.

All you need is regular weight plates, so if you already have a home gym, you most likely have what you need.

If you don’t, then you can find weight plates at your local sporting goods store which are very inexpensive.

The UnbrokenShop weight vest is the one I recommend if you already own weight plates.

It’s made of military grade quality material and fits real snug so the plates don’t bounce around.

The set up can’t be any easier.

Throw a few of your weight plates in the front and back pockets, strap them down with the velcro straps, and you’re ready to go.

UnbrokenShop Vest Features

  • Military grade material makes it durable
  • Holds up to 40 lbs of weight (20 lbs in front pouch and 20 lbs in back)
  • Front storage pouch for keys, wallet, phone, etc.
  • Breathable mesh helps sweat evaporate quickly
  • Quick release side buckles
  • Thick padded shoulder straps are comfortable on the shoulders
  • Sides are open and do not restrict range of motion

Use Plates You Already Own

Vest uses regular weight plates

The best feature of the weight vest by far is the ability to use your own weight plates.

This gives you the ability to not only save money but also to add or decrease weight as you please.

The vest can use any 10 lbs plate or smaller.

It can hold up to 40 lbs so (2) 10 lbs plates in the front and back is the most you can stuff it with.

The weight plates are strapped down securely by two velcro straps and a big velcro flap on top.

This prevents the plates from moving around while you workout.

Front Pouch for Storage

Front storage pouch

The front of the weight vest has a wide storage pouch.

This is perfect to store your valuables like keys, phone, wallet, etc.

It’s a great feature to have especially if you’re running.

That way you don’t have items bouncing around your pockets.

Breathable Mesh Evaporates Sweat Quickly

Front and back has breathable mesh insides

Both the front and back of the vest have breathable mesh material that makes it easy for sweat to evaporate.

Once you’re done working out, just wash it with soap and warm water and leave it out to dry for a bit.

4 Points of Adjustment

Buckles on shoulder straps and sides

The vest has 4 points where you can adjust how tight you want it on.

There’s 2 D-rings on the front of shoulder straps.

The strap that goes through the D-rings then velcros down to the top of the shoulder strap.

And 2 quick release buckles on the sides.

These snap on easily and can be adjusted by pulling forward on the straps connected to them.

Open Sides

Wide open sides

The sides have a wide opening which is perfect so it doesn’t interfere with your arms moving around.

This also helps air to circulate so you don’t feel like you’re carrying a sweaty vest.

Customize It

Add your own designs

Both the front and back of the vest have areas where you can attach velcro decals.

UnbrokenShop even gives you the option to do some customization right from their website before you complete your order.

Equipped With a MOLLE System

The vest also has a MOLLE system on both sides.

This makes the vest tactical and gives you the ability to attach carabiners, multi-tools, knives, magazine pouches, and other equipment.

Weighted Vest for Calisthenics

If calisthenics are getting too easy for you, adding a weighted vest can make exercises more challenging.

The additional weight will help you apply progressive overload to your workouts so you can continue gaining strength and size.

You can use the vest for upper and lower body calisthenic exercises such as:

  • Push ups
  • Rows
  • Pull ups
  • Dips
  • Lunges
  • Squats

Weighted Vest for Running

Most of the running I do is uphill so I didn’t want to torture myself more by strapping a vest to my chest.

However, I have done some laps around my neighborhood with it and it feels good.

Not much bounce to it and feels secure around my torso.

I’ve only tested it with 10 lbs on me since I didn’t want to place unwanted stress on my knees.

Weighted Vest for Murph & CrossFit

I put the vest through some CrossFit exercises and it felt pretty good.

I did burpees, box jumps, ring muscle ups, and kipping pull ups.

As long as you secure the straps tightly around your shoulders and waist, you shouldn’t feel much bounce to it.

What I Liked About The Vest

My favorite feature about this weighted vest is that I don’t have to spend extra money on overpriced specialty plates.

Not only are flat specialty plates expensive ($3 a pound) but you can’t really use them on any other equipment.

Instead, I just use my regular 10 lbs weight plates that I already use with my barbell.

What I Didn’t Like

Only thing I didn’t like is that the vest didn’t come with instructions on how to wash it.

But it wasn’t a big deal because I just googled “how to clean mesh material” and figured it out.

Other than that, I really don’t have any complaints about it.

Where To Buy

Right now the only place to buy the weighted vest is through the official UnbrokenShop website.

They’ll ship it straight to your door quickly.

Remember to use the special discount code dadshredded so you don’t pay full price.

The discount applies a 10% discount to your cart when you spend $100 or more.
