Everything arrived in one box and I can see Exponent Edge wanted to make sure nothing fell out.
The box was wrapped in tape from front to back.
Insides were filled with styrofoam and all parts were wrapped in plastic.

Here’s the first few things I pulled out of the box.
A knob, two handles, and a swivel mount.
I’ll give me more details about these later on…

The bar is not your regular barbell.
One end is T-shaped and has a couple of knurled knobs.

These knobs work together with the swivel mount to anchor the bar to my rack.
So as you might’ve guessed, there’s no barbell sleeve on this end.

The other end does have a sleeve but it’s different too.
You can see there’s a hole on the sleeve and it is hollow with part of the shaft coming out of the end.
If you look closely, the inside of the sleeve has a hexagonal shape and this is where handles will go in.

What Is The Exponent Edge Landmine Bar?

The Exponent Edge Landmine bar is a unique rack attachment and bar combo for landmine workout enthusiasts.
Unlike traditional rack mounted landmine attachments, it does not have a sleeve to insert a barbell into.
Instead, Exponent Edge connected a bar to the rack mount so it can be anchored at any height with zero chances of the bar slipping out while in use.

The Edge landmine bar has one sleeve where I can insert different handles.
These handles are 29mm in diameter (just like barbell shaft) making it easier and more secure to grip than a 2″ barbell sleeve.
As of now, Exponent Edge has a rotating and static handle but they’ve teased other attachments so I’m curious to see what they come up with.

Top Benefits Of The Exponent Edge Landmine Bar
Solid Grip

The Edge landmine bar is different in that it has its own handles so I won’t be gripping the barbell sleeve.
Barbell sleeves are thick and slick so they’re not the easiest to hold on to, especially during explosive landmine exercises.
But the Edge landmine bar has knurled handles that are the same diameter as barbell shafts so they’re safer and easier to hold on to.
Anchor Securely At Any Height

The rack mount doesn’t have a barbell sleeve.
It locks to my upright with the pin on the left, then I connect the barbell to it.

With my PRx rack having both 5/8″ and 1″, I like that the rack mount comes with a pin converter.
The pin attached to the mount (white arrow) fits 5/8″ holes and the pin converter (red arrow) is a sleeve that goes over it to fit in 1″ holes.

Since the landmine bar is locked at all times and there’s no sleeve, I can anchor it safely at any height.
There’s zero chance that my bar will slip out if it’s anchored high.

So when I’m doing landmine viking presses, I can focus on pressing without worrying about the what the other end of the barbell is doing.
With the bar being parallel to the floor, I get more of a true weight from the exercise vs having the bar anchored low where the weight is less at the top.

When I anchor the landmine bar high, I use a spotter arm or j-cup to load and unload it.
This makes it easy to start at the top of exercises like squats, Viking presses, hack squats, etc.
Joint Friendly

Since one end is anchored down, this creates a fixed path and adds more stability to the exercises so it makes them easier on my joints.
It also gives me the ability to perform exercises without directly loading my spine.

Handles

Knurled, 29mm handles are unique to the Edge landmine bar.
The bar comes with the static handle or you can upgrade to the rotating handle which is easier on the wrists.
If you look closely, you can see the static handle on top has a wider knurled area than the rotating handle.
And that’s because the rotating mechanism doesn’t allow for a fully knurled handle but I can still grip it with no issues.

I showed you earlier that the end of the barbell sleeve is hollow, hexagonal on the inside, and has a pair of holes on the outside.
And the way the shaft sticks out is not a defect, it’s done on purpose.

This was made so that the handles fit right into it.
The hole at the end of the handle fits around the barbell shaft, the outer hexagonal border goes into the sleeve, and the small hole matches the hole on the sleeve.

Once I have the holes lined up, I lock the handle in place by turning the knob to the right.
Now I can grip the end of the bar like a regular barbell.

Here’s what that looks like…
Both the handle and sleeve spin freely so my joints won’t take the pounding.

I personally prefer the 29mm handle when doing one handed exercises.
Explosive exercises like snatches and rotational presses and even traditional exercises like single arm rows feel better with the normal diameter grip.

Rack Mount

The rack mount is secure and swivels freely in all directions.
This gives me piece of mind that the bar is not gonna slip out and allows me to move in any direction.

It works in both 5/8″ and 1″ holes.
The pin is 5/8″ by default but with the 1″ pin converter, I can slide it into wider holes.

Once it’s in the hole, I secure it in place with a knurled nut.
Even with the most explosive exercises, the rack mount isn’t going anywhere.

Best part about the mount being locked in place is that I can do exercises from any height.
This way I can get more of a true felt weight.

Pros
- Handles: 29mm handles are easier to grip than a barbell sleeve
- Secure: With it being locked to the rack, there are no barbells to slip off
- No height limit: I can anchor it low and high
- Rotating handle: Easy on my wrists
- Versatility: I can do more exercises than with traditional landmine attachments since I can use the entire upright
Cons
- Cost: Not the cheapest option compared to a landmine attachment but this is the most safe and it includes the bar
Exponent Edge Landmine Bar Price

The Edge Landmine Bar’s price is $349 so it’s not cheap when compared to rack mounted landmine attachments.
But it’s also not the same thing, it’s a specialty bar.
This is a landmine bar and rack attachment all-in-one so it’s more of a specialty bar versus an attachment.
So I’d say this is more for people who favor landmine workouts over traditional ones.

Exponent Edge Landmine Bar Alternatives
Rogue Rack Mounted Landmine Attachment

There aren’t any other landmine attachments that have a built-in barbell.
All other options are sleeves that can be mounted to racks.
These work well for landmine exercises that are anchored low but for anything anchored high, you’re run the risk of the barbell slipping off.
My Experience Using The Exponent Edge Landmine Bar

After using the Edge landmine bar, I can say both the 29mm handles and fixed anchor point are beneficial.
The knurled handles make it easier to grip the bar versus having to grab the thicker sleeve.
And with the fixed anchor point, I don’t have to worry about the bar slipping out, especially when anchored high.

And of course, I stil use it for exercises like landmine barbell rows or belt squats.
But for those I don’t need to add a handle to it since I’ll be grabbing it from the shaft.

I rest the landmine bar on my platform.
Hook up my UClips and Smile handles around the shaft….

And do my landmine rows like with a traditional landmine.
So I get the best of both setups.
Is The Exponent Edge Landmine Bar Worth It?

If your workouts include a lot of landmine exercises for the upper and lower body, this is a good option.
Like any other specialty bar, it has unique features for a specific use which make it more expensive than the usual landmine rack attachments.
Financially, I don’t see it as a good buy for the occasional landmine user.
This is more for home gym owners that follow landmine specific programs like Landmine University.
With that being said, the handles and secure anchor point make it the best landmine bar I’ve ever tested.
