Unboxing the Tib Bar
Parts of the Tib Bar and the whole loading sleeve came bubble wrapped.
Everything came surrounded in packing peanuts.
The Tib Bar is solid and has laser cut HGG Performance branding (HGG and a mustache).
Its detachable loading sleeve is made out of stainless steel and screws into the Tib Bar.
First Impressions
The first thought that came to mind when I put the HGG Tib Bar together was quality.
Professionally welded and the neoprene foam pads give it an upscale look.
The screw-on chrome loading sleeve gives the black Tib Bar great contrast.
Features
Tib Bar
Looking at the bottom of the Tib Bar you can see there’s a threaded hole right in the middle.
That’s where the loading sleeve attaches.
A side view shows you the 3/8″ thickness of the pad that sits on top of your feet.
This is the view you’ll have when your feet are inserted into the Tib Bar.
Your heels sit on the bottom bar and the foam pads rest on the top of your feet.
Loading Sleeve
The loading sleeve is 7.5″ long and made out of stainless steel.
It’s compatible with Olympic weight plates and Competition 2″ plates.
HGG Performance also sells a sleeve for 1″ weight plates.
On the top end you can see it’s covered with a plastic end cap.
The bottom end of the sleeve has a threaded bolt and is hollowed out so it fits the Tib Bar.
Once you screw on the sleeve, it sits flush against the Tib Bar.
Weight Clamp
The weight clamp is just a regular plastic clamp with rubber on the insides.
Exercises With The Tib Bar
Tib Raises
The most common exercise with a Tib Bar is of course, Tib Raises.
Start off with your toes pointed away from you.
Then dorsiflex the ankle so that your toes point towards you.
You’ll feel your shin muscles being worked.
Leg Extensions
To target your quads, let your lower leg hang over the edge of a bench or box.
Make sure you have enough room at the bottom so that your feet don’t touch the floor.
Flex your quads and lift the weight until your legs and thighs form a straight line.
Leg Curls
To target your hamstrings you’ll have to set up on the Tib bar backwards.
You also need to move the weight clamp up the loading sleeve to give your feet more room.
For this one you’ll be setting up face down on a bench.
Your lower legs will hang off the edge of the bench and you’ll be kneeling on the bench.
Curl your legs up towards your butt to work the hamstrings.
Hanging Leg Raises
You can also work your hip flexors by doing hanging leg raises with the Tib Bar.
Insert your feet in the Tib Bar and hang off a pull up bar.
Raises your knees up and control the weight down.

HGG Performance Tib Bar Review
I’m really enjoying the HGG Tib Bar.
I initially thought it was a one trick pony to just strengthen your shin muscles.
But after using it consistently, it’s a versatile piece of equipment that can be used to strengthen many lower body muscles.
The quality, aesthetics, and comfort of the HGG tib bar, makes it the best one I’ve used.
