The Neck Hammock is a neck traction device that I use for recovery after neck training sessions.
It supports my head (hence the hammock name) and gently tractions my neck to relieve pain and muscle tension.
I use it on a door or hang it from my weight rack and I can even strap it around any sturdy post.

The Neck Hammock is made out of cloth material, elastic, and a strap so it doesn’t require heavy duty protection.
It ships in an envelope and came inside a travel bag.

Here it is out of the travel bag.
Nothing to assemble and seems really simple to use (I’ll show you how to set it up later).

They include an eye mask which is nice but I don’t think I’ll use.
I’ll be using this mostly at home so I can just turn off the lights.

Now the door hanger I do feel is important to use.
Last thing I need is for one of my kids to come blasting through the door and I end up slamming the back of my head on the floor.
So as simple as this seems, it’s is a good addition to the product.

What Is The Neck Hammock?

The Neck Hammock is a neck sling that you attach to a door or something sturdy like a post or weight rack to traction your neck.
When you lie down and rest your head in it, it gently pulls your neck to relieve tension and soreness in the neck.
I like that I can control the amount of traction it gives me by moving closer or further away from the anchor point.
Top Benefits Of The Neck Hammock
Anchor Anywhere

One thing I like about this neck traction device, is that I can anchor it down to any door and other sturdy posts.
The strap is made out of seat belt like material so it can support my heavy noggin without a problem.

Right at the end of the strap it has a loop and door stop.
I hang the strap from the door knob but it also has a door stop for added security.
You can see the door stop to the right of the pic above.

And if I wanna anchor the Neck Hammock to something other than a door, the strap has a buckle so I can release it from the rest of the hammock.
This allows me to wrap the strap around a sturdy structure then thread it through the loop and buckle it again.
I use it this way on my 3×3 weight rack and it just barely fits around it but it can be anchored to just about anything as long as it’s sturdy.
Neck Pain & Tension Relief

The Neck Hammock provides me with an easy way to fight gravity by tractioning my neck.
This is where the elastic band comes in handy…
It builds up a little bit of tension as I move further away from the anchor point so it decompresses my spine and relieves muscle pain and tension.
Chiropractors and physical therapists charge well over $200 per treatment, while the Neck Hammock only costs me a one time fee.
Best Features Of The Neck Hammock
Padding

The device has 3 pads: One in the center of the hammock that supports the back of my head and two cushions on the sides.
Each pad is about an inch in thickness and feels very comfortable when my neck is supported by the hammock.
All pads are stitched to the hammock so they stay in place at all times.
Elastic Straps

The elastic straps are what provide the traction when I’m on the hammock.
As I inch my way away from the door (or any anchor point), the elastic bands start to pull my neck.
This gentle pull is what takes pressure off my spine and relaxes my neck muscles.
And the best part is that I can control how much pull I want depending on how my neck is feeling.

How To Use The Neck Hammock

The hammocks comes with an instructions manual that’s super easy to read and understand.
Four steps is all it takes: (1) Wrap the strap loop around the door knob, (2) Pull strap through doorway, (3) close the door, and (4) hang my head face up.
I’ll walk you through them now…

First, I’ll show you outside the door and the first thing I do is wrap the strap around the door knob.
Notice how I left the door stopper on the outside of the doorframe for added safety.
I don’t wanna take any chances just in case the strap slips off the handle since my head is gonna be hanging from the other side.

Before I shut the door, I make sure to hang the DO NOT open door hanger so the kids and wife don’t come busting in and give me a concussion.
Now I’ll take you inside the door…

Now that I’m inside the door, I wanna make sure the Neck Hammock hangs around 2″ to 4″ off the ground.
If I need to adjust the height, the strap is adjustable just below the buckle.
I can pull or release the strap to make sure I’m at the right height.

The buckle is there so that I can anchor the hammock to other posts like my weight rack.
To do that, I unclip the buckle from the hammock, wrap the strap around the post, thread it through the loop, and buckle up.

When it’s ready to use, the hammock should hang close to the floor but not thouching it.
I like to get it around 3″ off the floor so that when my head is hanging on it, I’m not touching the floor.
Then I can adjust how much traction I want by moving further or closer to the door.

With padding that goes around the base of my skull and strap over my forehead, it is comfortable.

My Experience Using The Neck Hammock

Anytime I use the Neck Hammock, it feels like my head is floating so just by having my hurt supported I get relief from my neck having to support my head all day.
Then I start moving away from the door until I get to a point where I feel like I’m getting the right amount stretch.
It’s relaxing and actually works really well for such an inexpensive product.
Although it does help to relieve neck pain and tension, it’s not a cure for more serious medical conditions.
Who’s The Neck Hammock For?

The Neck Hammock is not for everyone but in my opinion it can benefit the following people:
- Anyone who sits in front of a computer all day
- Athletes especially those who wear helmets or rely on neck strength for their sport
- Gym goers who train their necks and traps with heavy weight
- People who carry a lot of stress on their shoulders
- Neck pain sufferers who don’t have serious medical problems
Final Verdict: Is The Neck Hammock Worth It?

If you suffer from neck pain, soreness, and stiffness that’s not caused by a serious neck injury, the Neck Hammock is well worth it.
The relaxation I get when I let my head hang from the hammock feels great and the gentle pull works wonders.
It’s easy to use, comfortable, and I can use it just about anywhere, and I don’t have to shell out a ton of cash to get relief.
