Stroops Resistance 90 Review

The Stroops Resistance 90 door kit is one hell of a versatile workout station.

If you’re short on space and have a door, this is one you definitely want to check out.

When I received this package I was unaware of the immense versatility behind this product.

And after using it, I don’t think there’s not a muscle in my body I can’t workout with this.

Let’s check it out!

Unboxing

Everything came in a rectangular box folded and tied down with rubber bands.

I’m going to take everything out and show you all the details.

Stroops Door Spine Strap

First thing I took out of the box is the Stroops door spine strap.

This is the what the spine looks like folded out.

It’s a long strap that goes around the front and back of a door to anchor down the resistance bands.

Here’s a closer look at the door spine.

There’s a total of 7 D-rings on the strap, each being 12 inches apart.

At the end of the spine there’s a buckle and the other end has a strap that goes through that buckle.

And just as a heads up, Stroops gave me the option to choose between two anchors (Door anchor or Spine Strap).

I went with the Door Spine Strap because that gives me 7 places to anchor my resistance band.

Stroops Resistance Band

Next thing out of the box is the Stroops resistance band (Stroops calls them Slastix).

I like that the band has an outer protective cover.

They designed it that way to protect the user in case the band snaps.

First thing that came to mind is that they look similar to the Crossover Symmetry resistance bands.

When choosing the resistance band tension they had 4 options to choose from.

I chose the 25 lbs resistance band which is considered “Heavy”.

Other choices were 15 lbs (light), 20 lbs (medium), and 30 lbs (very heavy).

One thing I noticed after laying out the resistance band is that the center is different.

It is flat, not round, like the rest of the band and there’s a reason for this.

The center is flat so I can step on it and use the bands from the ground up.

This way I’m standing on a flat surface and not a bump that would make my feet uncomfortable.

Collapsible Bar

Last thing I took out of the box is the collapsible bar.

This bar is made of hard plastic has some interesting features I’ve never seen in other products.

Here’s the feature I’ve never seen before.

Each end of the bar has a slit and a twistable cap.

Once I twisted the cap off, there’s an opening for something to fit in the slit.

Here’s where I insert the resistance band handles to add resistance to the collapsible bar.

How genius is this?!

The handle’s blue strap slides right in like a glove.

After I insert the other end, I just twisted the caps back on.

Now all I have to do is connect the bar at the middle.

To do this I insert the male piece into the female piece and twisted the two pieces until they clicked.

Here’s the final set up!

This way I can use the resistance bands individually or together to provide resistance for the bar.

Now it’s time to set up the spine strap to the door so I can start working out.

How To Set Up Resistance 90

Setting up the Stroops Door Spine Strap took less than a minute.

I threw the strap over the top of the door and fed the end of the strap through the buckle.

This is what the bottom of the door looks like from the back.

If you’re facing the buckle, you should be able to see a gap at the top of the door.

This tells you it’s on the correct the side.

Now I’ll show you what the other side of the door looks like.

The D-rings should always be on the side of the door that closes into the frame.

So there should be no gap at the top of the door.

It’s important that you se this up correctly so that you don’t rip your door off the hinges.

The door frame will give the door plenty of support when you’re pulling on the spine strap.

To attach the resistance band I simply clip the carabiner to a D-ring.

Next I’ll show you a few exercises that can be done with this product.

Resistance 90 Exercises

Stroops includes two posters full that show several exercises with and without the bar.

There’s plenty of exercises there to choose from for all body parts plus you can find more on YouTube.

Other Anchoring Options

Besides using the Stroops resistance bands on a door anchor, spine strap, or standing on it, there’s plenty of options to use as anchors.

Fences, trees, and wrapping it around weight rack posts are some other options I can think of.

Watch the video above so you can see how portable these bands are.

Pros & Cons

stroops resistance 90

What I Like

  • Portable: Collapsible bar and the rest of the kit doesn’t take up much space so it’s easy to take anywhere
  • Versatile: I can do hundreds of exercises on this thing
  • Small footprint: Great for small spaces since you don’t need a lot of space to workout. A door, post, fence, or tree is all you need.
  • Safe: Snap-proof band cover protects the user in case the bands break
  • Inexpensive: At less than $100, it’s a very affordable workout station (keep reading below for a discount)

What I Would Improve

  • Collapsible bar: Although it’s made of hard plastic and feels tough, I would make the bar out of metal like Stroops’ Fit Stik Pro

Stroops Resistance 90 Alternative

Squat Harness Resistance Band Superset

squat harness resistance band superset

The Resistance Band Superset sold at SquatHarness.com is a great alternative to Resistance 90.

It comes with 3 pairs of covered resistance bands, two handles, and a pair of door anchors.

I like the dual door anchors because I can recreate a functional trainer with the bands spread apart (exercises like cable crossovers).

Stroops Resistance 90 Review

I see this being a good fit for people who don’t have a lot of space who want a workout area.

Or even in a clinical setting for physical therapists and chiropractors.

It can easily be anchored to a door giving you plenty of exercises for the whole body.

With the collapsible bar, it’s easy to throw in a book bag and take anywhere.

Lots of versatility and affordable.
