The Angles 90 grippers are a set of orange, moon shaped grips that can be attached to many pieces of gym equipment.
The whole purpose of the grips is to allow your joints to move through a normal range of motion and achieve greater muscle contraction.
The Problem
Table of Contents
Most types of deadlifts, rows, pull-ups, and other fundamental pull movements aren’t performed in the best positions and angles for your body.
This can potentially result in shoulder, wrist, elbow, and low back injuries especially if you hit the gym on a consistent basis.
Just take a look at your anatomy…
Let your arms hang down and look at your palms.
How are they rotated? Are your palms facing your body?
Yup…this is the neutral position and it’s the least damaging to your upper extremity joints.
But most pull movements aren’t performed in this neutral position.
And over time with repetition this can lead to injuries.
Joint Injuries
Because the shoulder has so much range of motion, it is one of the most injured joints.
The movement that involves the most risk for injuring the shoulder is a combination of internal rotation and elevation.
This is the same position you see with a pull up or shoulder press exercise.
The worse of the worst is the upright row (don’t do those, they can cause shoulder impingement).
Doing chin ups in a fixed position is that it places a lot of stress on the wrists and cause Golfer’s elbow especially for old geezers like me 🙂
So the best solution is movements using a neutral grip or rotating handles whenever possible.
This takes off stress from the shoulders, wrists, and elbows.
This is where the Angles 90 grippers come in handy.
Angles 90 Grippers
The Angles90 grips can be attached to gym equipment and allow for free range of motion.
Benefits of The Angles 90
Muscle Fiber Activation
By changing your grip positions with Angles90, you’re biomechanically doing a new exercise which will activate new muscle fibers.
For example, adding a rotated grip to a pull up gives your lats a better squeeze/ contraction at the end of the movement because you’re able to move your elbows further back.
Increased range of motion
Static bars and grips restrain your range of motion because you’re in a fixed position.
With Angles90, you expand the range of motion of any pull movement.
In lat pull-downs and rows, you extend the length of the pull.
With pull-ups, your lats experience a more intense stretch and you have more room to bring your elbows back for a more intense contraction.
Mind-muscle connection
Because of the more natural pull motions, you can feel your back muscles and each movement more accurately.
At the same time, you shift your focus from your arms to your back muscles (where it should be) as you develop a better mind muscle connection.
Improve Stabilization
Because the Angles90 grips are free to move while you exercise, your stabilizer muscles are constantly working to keep you stable.

Exercises With The Angles90
You can attach the Angles90 grips to a ton of equipment and do all types of exercises with them.
Be as creative as you can be with them.
Here’s a list of the exercises I’ve done using the grips and a bunch I’ve seen done on my Instagram feed.
- Pull ups
- Inverted rows
- Seal rows
- Farmer’s walk
- Seated rows
- Cable crossovers (yes, you can do pushing exercises too)
- Connect them to a D handle bar
- And many more…
Hell, I’ve even used them to bring groceries in 😆
What I Liked About the Angles 90
The number 1 thing I liked about the Angles 90 grippers is that they allow you to move your arms freely in a natural range of motion.
For me this causes less pain than being in a fixed position.
I can see other home gym owners with shoulder, elbow, and wrist pain benefiting from this.
This lets me focus on lifting, not hurting.
Don’t get me wrong…
I like the soreness from working out, but I don’t enjoy joint pain.
Different Grips
I also like that you have the ability to change the grip style you want to use.
For the power position you flip the handles upside down and this almost feels like you’re holding gymnastic rings.
Great for heavy pulling movements.
I’ve also used this position when doing cable cable flys so you can use it for pushing exercises as well.
The Ergo Position conforms to the shape of your hand and is recommended for high reps / low weight.
Small Footprint / Portable
The Angles 90 is also very small so it doesn’t take up a lot of space when I need to put it away or if I need to take it anywhere.
I just throw it over a j-cup or anything on hang it over anything on my garage gym walls.
Overall it’s a very practical piece of equipment with a lot of benefit to my workout and body.
What I Didn’t Like
The only thing I didn’t like about the Angles90 is that I didn’t find out about them earlier.
It adds a new twist to my workouts without the joint pain.
Angles 90 Alternatives
Kensui Swissies
Although Kensui Swissies do not rotate, they are still very useful when doing neutral grip exercises.
I use them with my pull up bar, barbells, and cable machines.
Double Circle Pull Up Handles
The Double Circle pull up handles are very similar to Angles90 except they’re made out of wood.
These can’t be adjusted in strap length or direction of the handle but they function in a similar way.
