Unboxing

nordictrack 2450 commercial treadmill assembly

NordicTrack provides white glove delivery so I didn’t have to assemble anything.

The delivery guys unbox the treadmill, put it together, and take the trash with them.

Two guys took about 30 minutes to fully assemble the treadmill. This would’ve taken me at least 2 hours considering how big and heavy it is so kudos to NordicTrack for adding this to the customer service experience.

Top Benefits Of The NordicTrack 2450 Commercial Treadmill

Home Gym Experience (Not Just a Treadmill)

top benefits of the nordictrack 2450 commercial treadmill

After playing around with the iFit interface for a while, I can see why they added such as big and interactive screen to the treadmill. Not only am I able to “walk right next” to a trainer in different countries, but I have the option to select a ton of workouts off the treadmill, so it’s way more than just a treadmill.

Workout Variety

search workouts on the nordictrack 2450

Piggy backing on what I just said, I can select workouts from the iFit main menu or I can do searches for specific workouts and filter them down to get exactly what I want. For example, I can search cross training, select the difficulty, duration, and even look for a specific iFit trainer. There’s thousands of workouts I can search and they keep adding more so I don’t see myself getting bored.

Folds To Save Space

nordictrack 2450 folding treadmill

This is a big treadmill so having vertical storage ability is a big deal in my garage gym. I love having the ability to run and do incline walks but once I’m done, I don’t want a big machine eating up my workout area. When I fold it, it goes from 77″ to 44″ so it makes a difference.

Best Features Of The NordicTrack 2450 Commercial Treadmill

Large 24″ Touchscreen

touchscreen on the nordictrack 2450 commercial treadmill

The touchscreen is high definition and much bigger than I imagined.. I can stream workouts and download entertainment streaming apps like Netflix. It tilts and pivots so I can turn it and use it to follow along workouts off the treadmill.

iFit Software

iFit is real easy to navigate. There’s always recommendations on the main menu and I can scroll down and to the sides for more options or I can do manual searches when I’m looking for a specific workout type. It’s like having a Netflix membership for workouts.

Above I took a picture of some classes that showed up on my home page after I scrolled down.

The top 4 workouts are pilates and the bottom 4 are yoga. Right below each video, iFit shows me the workout type, fitness level, and the trainer so I have tons of options to pick from.

Incline & Decline Training

the nordictrack 2450 treadmill inclines and declines

Out of all the treadmills I’ve tested, this is the first one that has a decline setting to simulate downhill terrains. When I’m walking along with an iFit trainer, there’s landscapes that have all types of angles so I go through them all. This is really cool because it simulates exactly what I’m watching on the screen.

SmartAdjust

smart adjust feature on the nordictrack 2450

Speaking of incline and decline, iFit automatically tilts the treadmill deck (I don’t do it). Look at the bottom of the pic above where all the squiggly lines are. The yellow line shows me level of incline and the blue line shows me the speed. These are automatically adjusted through the workouts so I feel like I’m walking with the trainer and makes the workouts interactive and more challenging.

Commercial Grade

Everything about the NordicTrack 2450 feels commercial grade. I already showed you the high tech on the touchscreen and now I’ll show you some of the actual treadmill.

The deck feels sturdy, it’s long so I have plenty of room when running, and it gives so my joints don’t feel like I’m running on concrete. This thing can get up to 14 mph so it feels very fast and the motor is very quiet so I can hear what I’m watching on the screen.

Overall it’s heavy duty and made to last.

Vertical Folding Design

nordictrack 2450 vertical storage

Without the vertical folding design I wouldn’t have gotten this for my garage gym. It’s a big machine and having the ability to shrink its size when I’m not using it, is what sold me on it.

nordictrack 2450 gas shocks

Right below the belt, there’s a gas shock that helps me lift the treadmill deck to the upright position. This treadmill is heavy so having the shock assist is a big plus. On the flip side, the gas shock also prevents the deck from a dead drop. It lowers the deck slowly when I need to unfold it.

Rolling Wheels

treadmill wheels

The wheels are in the center of the treadmill, not the front. When I first saw this I thought it was different because other treadmills have them in the front.

But this treadmill is meant to be moved once I have the deck folded and locked. So when I want to move it, I tilt on to the wheels by pushing the deck down and this way I can roll it around my garage gym.

NordicTrack 2450 Commercial Treadmill Pros & Cons

nordictrack 2450 commercial treadmill pros and cons

Pros

  • iFit software: I have 10K+ workouts to choose from so I don’t get bored (including on demand workouts off the treadmill)
  • Screen: 24″ touch screen is big and interactive and easy to navigate. It’s like a huge tablet.
  • SmartAdjust Technology: When I’m using iFit, the treadmill inclines/declines and speeds up/slows to match the workout terrain which is really cool
  • Foldable: I like being able to fold it up so it doesn’t take up a lot of my garage gym space when I’m not using it
  • Shock absorption: Cushioned deck gives a little bit so it’s easier on my ankles, knees, and hips
  • Streaming apps: I can connect apps I already use like Netflix, Amazon Prime video, YouTube TV, Pluto TV, Spotify, Audible, iHeart Radio

Cons

  • Investment: The 2450 comes with a high price tag because it’s more than just a regular treadmill
  • Subscription: Requires a subscription to unlock interactive features and workouts. It still works like a regular treadmill without it.

NordicTrack 2450 Commercial Treadmill Price

nordictrack 2450 commercial treadmill price cost

At $2499, the 2450 is by far a budget treadmill. Add in the option of a monthly, 1 year, 2 year, or 3 year iFit membership and the initial investment is a lot. But it’s important to compare the 2450 to the right category of treadmill not a basic treadmill.

Most basic treadmills are made so you can walk or run, nothing else. And there’s nothing wrong if that’s all you need but for those who want a more interactive experience with a large touchscreen, a library of 1000’s of workouts, automatic speed and incline adjustments, that’s where the 2450 shines.

It’s like having a personal trainer I can follow along instead of simply logging miles.

nordictrack 2450 commercial treadmill subscription

After hitting the “Buy Now” button, I got this side tab asking me to select a membership option. Again, this is not you if you’re not looking for a membership. To get the most out of iFit and its interactive features, the membership is a must.

There’s several options. The longer you commit, the more you’ll save.

NordicTrack Discount Code

nordictrack discount code coupon

Some fitness brands run endless coupon codes and flash sales but from what I’ve seen, NordicTrack usually offers discounts around major holidays.

The good news is that NordicTrack runs promotions that are well worth it. In recent months I’ve seen promotions of $150 off which is a big discount.

Peloton Cross Training Tread

peloton cross training tread reviews

Both the NordicTrack 2450 and Peloton Tread are premium, but Peloton takes a different approach with their membership by offering on-demand and live classes so you’re working out with a trainer in real time.

The monitor on this one is smaller (21.5″ vs 24″), goes up to 12.5 mph, and inclines up 12.5% (no decline).

Peloton sells this one for $3295.

NordicTrack 1750

nordictrack 1750 reviews

The 1750 is the less premium version of the 2450. Both treadmills are very similar in performance (incline/decline, shock absorption, iFit usage).

What stands out on the 2450 is the much bigger touchscreen (16″ vs 24″), more immersive user experience, and a higher speed (12 mph vs 14 mph). If you prefer a larger touchscreen and interactive workouts, the 2450 may be worth the upgrade but if your primary goal is just walking or running, the 1750 still delivers for $500 less.

Sole F85

sole f85 treadmill reviews

The Sole F85 is for those who want a premium feel treadmill without the interactive training or subscription. This one is simple but durable.

It uses a 4.0 CHP motor for speeds up to 12 mph, 15 levels of inclines, 6 levels of decline, and 15.6″ touchscreen.

On the F85, I can stream Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and Spotify. Or I can mirror my phone using Zwift, Apple fitness, Peloton, and others.

This one sells like a premium treadmill at $2300 but there are no monthly subscriptions.

My Hands-On Experience Using The NordicTrack 2450 Commercial Treadmill

my hands on experience using the nordictrack 2450

The NordicTrack commercial 2450 is one of the best home treadmills I’ved used.

I mainly use the treadmill for incline walks and occasional sprints and I’m able do both on this one. The interactive walks are key because it distracts me so I don’t get bored easily. With the incline and decline functionality and auto adjusting speed, I feel like I’m really going through the trails shown on screen and it makes it more challenging.

With thousands of on-demand workouts both on and off the treadmill, this has plenty to choose from so I’m never doing the same thing over and over again.

And I get that the price and subscription model won’t be for everyone but this offers so much more that few home treadmills can match.

Final Verdict: Is The NordicTrack 2450 Commercial Treadmill Worth It?

Yes, it’s worth it if you consistently follow the iFit workouts and want an interactive experience where the actions of the treadmill (speed and incline) match the terrains that you’re watching on the screen.

So to sum it up, this is a high end treadmill with an interactive experience that keeps me from getting bored.

This is more of a training system where I can train on and off the treadmill with its built in library of on-demand workouts so it’s not for those just looking for a basic treadmill.
