The SYL Fitness rack mounted landmine attachment gives you more options than a post landmine.
With post landmine attachments (plate inserted), you only have the option to anchor it down at the floor.
With a rack mounted landmine you can alter your anchor point anywhere along your weight rack’s uprights.
This gives you more variety and the correct line of drive for some exercises.
Let’s dig in!
Unboxing
Table of Contents
The landmine came in a small box in 3 pieces.
The landmine attachment I ordered fits my PRx Performance rack’s 3×3 uprights.
SYL fitness also has them available for 2×2 racks.
You get a cylinder for your barbell sleeve, the mount that connects directly to the upright, and a piece that goes in between those two.
Cylinder
The cylinder is where the end of your barbell goes in.
Then opening and a part of the inside of the cylinder is coated with hard plastic to protect your barbell.
The other end of the cylinder has two holes where a bolt will go through.
Rack Mount
The rack mount comes with a bolt, two washers, and a nut.
Two lips on the sides of the mount wrap around the upright.
Center Piece
The center piece connects the mount to the cylinder.
The vertical bolt connects to the mount.
The horizontal bolt connects to the cylinder.
This gives the SYL fitness rack mounted landmine attachment 360 degrees of swivel.
When all the pieces are connected they look like the picture above.
All the hardware is included.
Features
- Universal – the SYL landmine attachment is available for 2×2 and 3×3 racks
- Olympic size – fits olympic bars with 2″ sleeves
- Swivel – the landmine swivels 360 degrees to freely move around its anchor point
Mounting The Landmine To Your Rack
Attach the mount to the rack.
Insert the bolt through rack hole with a washer in the front.
Insert the other washer and tighten the bolt in the back.
This is what the set up looks like from the side.
The next step is to connect these two pieces together (center piece to cylinder).
Above you can see the final product, the rack mounted landmine attachment.
Rack Mounted vs Post Landmine Attachment
You can do a whole lot of exercises with a post landmine attachment.
You insert it in the middle of a few weight plates and you’re ready to roll.
The only downside to the post landmine is that you only have the option to anchor the landmine to the floor.
This alters the correct line of drive for some exercises.
With that being said, it is still a good option if you don’t have access to a weight rack.
Post Landmine Pros
- Fast set up (no bolts required)
- No weight rack needed
- Tons of exercises
Post Landmine Cons
- Line of drive remains constant
If we look at the shoulder press on a post landmine, the weight plate starts in front of your body.
Then as you press the weight up, instead of going straight up, the weight shifts forward because of the landmine’s low anchor point.
You can still get a good shoulder workout, but the weight distribution is not the same as if you were pushing straight up.
Rack Mounted Landmine Pros
- Can be attached to many points on a weight rack to get correct line of drive on exercises
- More exercise options than post landmine because of different anchor points
When comparing the shoulder press on rack mounted landmine set at a high level on the rack, the weight starts closer to your body.
When you press up on high anchored, rack mounted landmine, the weight goes straight up so you get more of a true shoulder press line of drive.
Rack Mounted Landmine Cons
- Set up takes longer than post landmine (HGG Performance has improved on setting up the landmine quickly)
- You need a weight rack
Landmine Attachment Exercises
There are a ton of landmine attachment exercises you can do to add variety to your workouts.
I combine my landmine with my IronMaster Ultimate Row Handle for T-bar rows.
You can train your lower body, upper body, and core for strength and power.
Just use your imagination and you’ll have an endless amount of exercises to play with.
Rack Mounted Landmine Attachment Review
SYL Fitness did a really good job in making the rack mounted landmine.
It’s simple to mount and dismount from a rack, giving you the option to anchor it low or high.
And has a 360 degree swivel for full range of motion through exercises.
You can perform upper and lower body exercises from using one piece of equipment.
If you’re in need of a landmine attachment, this one gets the job done.

The rack mounted landmine attachment looks like the barbell will want to slide out due to gravity.
You’ll need a stand or base to hold the loose end of the barbell so that you start at parallel. I use a spotter arm to support the barbell but I’ve seen other people use a landmine stand or straps like the Henny attachmentHenny Attachment Review.
You gotta push the barbell forward before you exercise and maintain that forward pressure throughout when using the landmine at a high level.
