Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro Review

Summary by Shredded Dad
This review explains Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro in plain terms with practical takeaways for home gym owners. Shredded Dad publishes reviews, comparisons, and fitness tools to help people build better garages and train smarter.

If you’re dealing with weak ankles, have balance issues, or just feel unstable during workouts, the Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro might be one of the most underrated tools you can add to your home gym.

Most lifters focus on heavy lifts and completely ignore smaller stabilizer muscles that keep your joints strong and injury free.

That’s where this product comes in…

It’s not flashy but it might be the missing piece that improves your mobility, balance, and stability without beating up your joints.

In this review, I’ll break down what it is, who it’s for, and whether it’s worth adding to your setup.

Unboxing

unboxing the spacer mobility stability trainer pro

Everything came in one box with all parts bubble wrapped.

There’s not much to this product so it took no time to put together.

It’s a board, 8 springs (4 grey, 4 black), and legs.

Here’s what it looks like after I put it together.

It’s a board suspended on 4 springs so it’s free to move in all directions, making it very unstable.

What Is The Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro?

what is the spacer mobility stability trainer pro?

The Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro is a spring loaded training platform that helps to improve my balance, stability, proprioception, and joint control.

It’s like a mix of a balance trainer, a mobility tool, and prehab/rehab device.

Since the board is suspended by springs, it’s unstable and forces me to use stabilizer muscles in my:

  • Ankles
  • Knees
  • Hips
  • Core (planks and shoulder taps on this are killer!)

I use it for:

  • Warm ups before lifting
  • Balance drills
  • Single leg training
  • Rehab exercises

Top Benefits Of The Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro

Improves Balance

top benefits of the spacer mobility stability trainer pro

When I use the stability trainer, it exposes balance and instability that I don’t normally train.

Especially when I use one foot at a time (my left foot sucks bad), I feel like the whole board shakes uncontrollably.

It reminds me of when I first started using gymnastics rings and my arms shook uncontrollably.

But the more I use the balance trainer, the less shaky it becomes so I know my balance and stabilizing muscles are improving.

Strengthens Stabilizer Muscles

Not only do I use it for my lower body, but I like to throw in upper body exercises too, like the shoulder taps that I’m doing in the pic above.

This makes planks way more challenging because I’m supporting my body on three limbs and my legs are moving side to side so my core is firing.

And every time I lift my hand, the shoulder on the ground is having to work overtime to keep me stabilized.

I can also do these the opposite way, with my hands on the stability trainer which makes it much harder on my shoulders.

Injury Prevention

Any time I use the stability trainer I have to slow down. If I don’t, the board will shake uncontrollably.

So not only does it help to train my stabilizer muscles but it forces me to control the movement, so it teaches me to use proper form to avoid injuries.

Best Features Of The Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro

Steel Pipes

best stability trainer pro features

The frame is made out of steel tubes so it’s solid and holds up to 330 lbs when I use the grey springs.

Right at the top of the tubes, there’s foam covering for my hands.

I don’t use this much but every once in a while I’ll throw in some pushups or L-sits.

And at the bottom, it has rubber feet so it keeps the stability trainer from shifting while I’m on it.

I’ve never had it move around on my stall mats so the rubber does what it’s supposed to do.

Wooden Board

I don’t know what type of wood the board is made out of, but it must be strong cause it doesn’t bend at all.

It’s 0.6″ thick and held in place by springs that latch on to eye hooks on each corner.

The board has measurement marks on them so I can track foot placement. One thing I noticed is that when I train one foot, the further out I stand from the center, the harder it gets.

Heavy Duty Springs

The stability trainer comes with 2 sets of 4 heavy duty springs that are color coded.

One set is black and has a weight capacity of 220 lbs and the grey set can hold up to 330 lbs.

I just keep the grey set on all the time. It’s still difficult especially when I’m doing one legged exercises.

The Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro Price

spacer mobility stability trainer pro price cost

The Stability Trainer Pro is priced at $199.95 which is a high investment but that’s what you can expect to pay with premium balance trainers.

This is far from the cheap wobble boards you find on Amazon for $20.

You’re getting premium materials that can take on a lot abuse, support a lot of weight, and are built to last.

Terra Core Balance Trainer

terra core balance trainer review

The Terra Core balance trainer is a two-sided stability trainer.

One side has an oval air filled bubble and the other side is flat.

So I can use this in two ways: (1) Flat side down, standing on the air bubble creates an unstable surface where the air shifts, and (2) air bubble down creates something like a wobble board.

Price on this one is $250 as of this writing so it’s more expensive than the Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro.

Bosu Balance Trainer

stability trainer pro vs bosu balance trainer

The Bosu balance trainer is an air filled, half dome, that can be used on both sides.

With the dome side down, it feels similar to a wobble board.

And then flat side is down, the top surface sinks anywhere I step on it so it creates a different types of instability.

This one sells for $160 so it’s slightly less expensive than Spacer Mobility’s.

My Hands-On Experience Using The Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro

my hands on experience using the spacer mobility stability trainer pro

I mostly use the balance trainer to get my legs ready on leg days.

It gets all my stabilzers ready for squats, lunges, and explosive movements.

It’s a shame that many home gym owners don’t use these kinds of tools because they’re not considered strength tools.

To me, mobility, stability, and injury prevention are just as important as training because you can’t stay in the game when you’re on the sidelines.

The more I use it, the better stability I have under load and I feel less aches and tweaks.

Final Verdict: Is The Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro Worth It?

is the spacer mobility stability trainer pro worth it?

Yes, for the right person…

If your goals are:

  • Better balance
  • Stronger joints that can support more weight
  • Injury prevention

Then it is 100% worth it.

But if you’re just looking for a main gym piece, strength training, and muscle growth, then this won’t be of interest to you.

From my almost 50 years old point of view, this is one of those tools that doesn’t look impressive but pays off big over time.

Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro FAQ’s

What does the Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro do?

It improves balance, stability, and joint control by creating an unstable surface so you recruit stabilizing muscles.

Can it help with ankle and knee pain?

Yes, it can help strengthen stabilizer muscles and ligaments around joints so it helps reduce pain and prevent injuries. Combine this with the Knees Over Toes Program for knee pain for best results.

How do you use the Spacer Mobility Stability Trainer Pro?

You can use it for balance drills, single leg exercises (these are hard!), squats, lunges, shoulder taps, rehab, and more…
