The Barbell Jack Review

The Barbell Jack is a deadlift jack that makes it easy to load and unload weight plates on a barbell.

You know how hard it can get to slide 3 or more weight plates on your bar.

Well this jack lifts your bar just enough to slide plates in or out without any struggles.

This way you save energy for your heavy workouts.

Let’s check it out!

The Barbell Jack came in a long box with a smaller mesh bag.

I chose to buy the orange deadlift jack.

Their website gives you the option to get orange or black.

Here’s what the small mesh bag looks like up close.

Inside the bag is a booty band that they throw in with your purchase.

I guess they figure you’ll be doing hip thrusts and other leg day exercises when loading the barbell heavily.

I’ve used them before and they force you to push your legs out to target your glutes more.

First Impressions

There’s not much to the barbell jack.

A handle, a slot for your barbell to sit on, and a pivot point at the base.

Build feels solid though.

The handle is textured so you can get grip it well.

And right at the top there’s a hole which I’m guessing is there to hang it.

the barbell jack weight capacity

They imprinted the weight capacity right on the shaft of the deadlift jack.

Not something I’ll ever have to worry about but if you lift above 500 lbs then you’ll pushing the jack’s limit.

The base has a curve on one end and is flat on the other end.

That curve is the pivot point that lets you use the jack to raise your barbell.

The bottom is textured on the curved end so that the jack doesn’t slip while you use it.

Looks good from what I see so far.

How The Barbell Jack Works

Tilt the jack so that the curved end is on the floor and the barbell sits on the slot.

Do this on one side of the barbell, not in the middle.

Here’s a closer look at it.

Also make sure you do it where there’s knurling so the jack and barbell have a solid grip.

Now tilt the jack away from the curved end into the flat end.

The jack stand up and remains stable while the weight is on it.

The deadlift jack creates enough height for the weight plates to slide in and out of the barbell effortlessly.

Benefits

The benefits of a barbell jack come when you’re lifting heavy.

It uses a simple hook-and-pull system that allows for effortless loading, offloading, and changing of weight plates.

Most people use it when they’re loading a bar for deadlifts, hip thrusts, or landmine work.

The Barbell Jack vs Full Barbell Jack

titan fitness full barbell jack

You’ve probably seen barbell jacks that lift the barbell from both ends.

These are full barbell jacks and even though they may seem more practical, they take up too much space in a home gym.

And unless you’re working out with a partner and can load the bar simultaneously from both ends, I don’t think full barbell jacks are necessary.

The Barbell Jack is considered a mini jack since it’s a fraction of the size of a full jack.

If you’re in a home gym by yourself, a mini jack is all you need.

What I Like

I like that the jack’s function is straight forward.

There’s really not much effort that goes into it: Hook, pull, and stand.

Its base is wide enough so there’s no issues with stability when you have weight on it.

Get your weight plates in and out and continue with your workout.

What I Would Improve

If I were to improve something on the deadlift jack it would be to add the textured grooves throughout the whole base.

I think it would add more grip to the bottom.

It would make it less likely to slip and this is something that could be easily added.

The Barbell Jack Review

The Barbell Jack comes in handy when I’m doing heavy deadlifts or doing hip thrusts on my Nordic Hyper GHD.

It’s designed well and saves energy when I’m having to load and unload multiple plates on my bar.

Super easy to use and doesn’t take up a lot of room.

With a weight capacity of 550 lbs, it’s something that should last me forever.
