The Harison Fitness squat stand is great for those looking to build a home gym with limited space.
It is adjustable so you can rise the uprights up and down.
And you can also make it narrow and wide.
So you can use it as a squat rack, bench rack, and dip station.
Let’s dig in!
Unboxing
Table of Contents
The squat stand comes in a medium sized box.
Everything inside was wrapped in plastic and well protected.
This is everything that comes inside the box.
Assembly
All the hardware you need comes is provided but I used a socket wrench.
You’ll get the assembly done faster with a socket wrench like this one.
The socket size that fits the hardware is 11/16.
You start the assembly with the legs.
Then add the uprights to the legs.
And secure the base of the squat stand by connecting the legs with the red crossmember.
Now insert the adjustable uprights in each side.
The height of each upright is controlled by a knob.
It comes with 10 height settings in total.
Now it’s time to add the spotter arms.
Each one has 3 rubber pads screwed on to the metal.
Here’s what it looks like so far.
Last step is to add the weight plate sleeves to each side.
The Harison squat stand has weight storage sleeves on each side.
You can set them up for standard weight plates or Olympic sized plates.
Regardless of the weight plates you own, the standard size sleeve screws on to the squat stand.
If you own Olympic sized plates, just slide the thick sleeves into the skinnier ones.
The fat sleeves have screw to tighten it on to the skinny sleeve.
Harison Fitness includes the Allen wrench.
You’ll hear the Allen key rattling inside the weight sleeves after you unpack everything.
This is what the finished product looks like once it’s on.
Weight capacity per weight sleeve is around 175 lbs.
My competition bumper plates fit perfectly on there.
Here’s a view from the side showing you how much space is left on the weight sleeve.
You can fit 2 to 3 bumper plates on each side.
With iron plates you can fit more plates since they are thinner.

Features
Adjustable Crossmember
The width of the Harison squat stand can be adjusted by the horizontal red crossmember.
There’s a pull knob on the back of the crossmember.
It’s hard to tell from the picture but the crossmember has numbers 1 – 10.
Here’s the Harison squat stand at its narrowest setting.
This is the setting you’ll use to do dips.
Adjustable Height
The uprights can be adjusted in height using two black knobs right above the spotter arms.
Height can be adjusted from 50″ to 69″.
Adjustable Spotter Arms
Each spotter arm has a set of holes to connect it to the back of the squat stand.
The front has a lip to prevent barbells from rolling off.
The spotter arms can be adjusted up and down by the back.
In the back there’s a pull pin that locks in place to secure the spotter arms.
They can be adjusted to 5 different heights.
The spotter arms have a weight capacity of 400 lbs.
The rubber pads on the spotter arms protect my barbell from scratches.
Dip Bars
They made the back of the Harison squat stand more useful by adding a pair of dip handles.
Each one has a rubber sleeve for grip.
To use the dip station you have to set the crossmember to its narrowest setting.
Exercises
With the Harison Fitness Squat Stand being adjustable in width and height, you can use the stand for squats, bench press, shoulder press, dips, and many other exercises.
Bench Press
When doing incline bench, the spotter arms are there to save you if you get stuck at the bottom.
When opened up to the widest setting, you have plenty of room for your arms and elbows to move freely through the exercise.
Squats
To set up for squats, you have to raise the uprights to fit your height.
When loading my powerlifting barbell, the squat stand is wide enough so that the barbell doesn’t tip over with weight on one side.
Now just set up the height of the spotter arms to fit the bottom of your squat.
There’s plenty of room in between the legs to adjust the width of your stance.
Here’s a shot of the barbell getting close to the spotter arms at the bottom of the squat.
Dips
To use the dip bars on the back of the squat stand, adjust it to the most narrow setting.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Versatile – can be used for squats, bench, and dips for upper and lower body workouts
- Adjustable – height, width, and spotter arms can be adjusted
- Space saving – adjusts to narrow width to decrease the space it takes up
- Plate storage – keeps your plates off the floor
Cons
- Flat bench press – height of the uprights doesn’t allow for flat bench press but you can use the spotter arms as a starting point for flat bench
