The HGG Performance landmine attachment clamp arrived and I’m excited to test it.
It uses a solid clamping mechanism similar to their Nordic Bar.
And that mechanism makes it universal, so it can be used on any post that’s 3.5″ wide or less.
I have a 3″ x 3″ weight rack so it should work just fine.
Let’s dig in!

HGG Performance went out of business so this product is no longer available at their website.

Unboxing
The HGG Performance landmine attachment is submerged in packing peanuts so it’s well protected.
It’s all one piece so there’s nothing to assemble.
Th Home Gym Guys also include a few stickers and a thank you post card.
First Impressions
I own several HGG Performance products (Nordic bar, Tib bar, and IsoTib) so I was expecting nothing less than solid quality.
First thing I noticed was the spherical pivot point.
I’ve never seen a landmine attachment with this type of hinge joint.
Looks bad ass sandwiched in between two metal pieces.
The powder coated steel and laser cut HGG branding on the landmine gives it a nice look.
And I love the mustache bolt that’s unique to their rack mounted products.
The inside of the clamp has the same rubber pad at the end of the bolt and anti-slip textured pad as their Nordic bar.
So the landmine attachment should squeeze my weight rack just as good.
Specs
- Fits any weight rack 3.5″ wide or less
- Compatible with Olympic sized barbells
- Barbell sleeve is 7″ deep
- Locks by turning heavy duty bolt
Set Up
Setting up the Universal Landmine Clamp is extremely easy.
Just place the landmine attachment against your post and turn the mustache bolt clockwise until it’s tight.
It can be moved up and down your post depending on the exercises you’re doing.
Once set up, just insert any Olympic sized barbell and you’re ready to start your workout.
Clamping Mechanism
The HGG Performance landmine attachment sandwiches your rack’s post for a tight fit.
Your post sits between a non-slip rubber pad that’s connected to a bolt and a rubber textured sleeve.
Simple design but it delivers on stability and stays on your post securely.
In typical home gym test dummy fashion, I hung from it to test it out and the darn thing stays in place.
Very impressed since it’s only held by one bolt and it doesn’t it cross the weight rack’s post!
Pivot Sphere
HGG Performance used an interesting pivot point on their landmine attachment.
Something I’ve never seen done before from any brand.
It’s a CNC machined pivot sphere that gives you greater rotational capacity and range of motion than traditional landmine attachments.
Aside from its function, it also looks real cool.
Landmine Attachment Exercises
There’s tons of landmine attachment exercises you can do.
Here’s just a few of the ones I rotate in my workouts.
Rows
You can do several row variations:
Meadow rows – Row one arm at a time with your body perpendicular to the barbell.
T-bar rows – Row with several attachments like the Ultimate Row Handle, Angles90 grips, or a Double D handle.
Reverse Lunge
Stand facing the landmine attachment and lunge back alternating legs.
Shoulder Press
Stand facing your rack and press the weight up one arm at a time (can be done standing or kneeling).
Squats
You can do several squat variations:
Front squats – hold the barbell with two hands by your sternum
Hack squats – face away from your rack and place the barbell on top of one your shoulders
Sumo squats – start with a wide stance and hold the barbell low with both hands
Deadlifts
Romanian Deadlifts – I use the Ultimate Row Handle for these or you can do them one leg at a time
Deadlifts – stand facing the rack and grab the barbell low with both hands
Russian Twists
Stand facing the rack, grab the barbell with two hands, and alternate rotating from one side to the other
Viking Press
For the Viking Press, you’ll set up the HGG Universal Landmine Clamp about shoulder height.
Set one end of your barbell on a support (I use a spotter arm) and the other in the landmine’s sleeve.
Now use a Viking press handle (I use the Ultimate Row Handle) to press the weight up.
What I like
- Universal – fits any post 3.5″ wide or less
- Versatile – Can be moved up and down the rack for a wide variety of landmine exercises
- Secure – Clamping mechanism is solid and the landmine doesn’t slide when tightened correctly
- Pivoting sphere – Sphere gives you greater range of motion than other rack mounted landmine attachments
- Quality – Powder coated heavy duty steel for longevity
- Storage – can be left clamped to the weight rack without taking up floor space
What I Don’t Like
I like everything about HGG’s landmine but I feel this could be bundled with a landmine stand to make it a complete package.
A landmine stand gives you a higher point to start and finish lifts vs having to pick up the weight from the ground and up to your shoulders.
This would be good for hack squats, reverse lunges, shoulder presses, viking presses, and other exercises.

HGG Performance Universal Landmine Clamp Review
I like HGG’s universal landmine attachment.
It’s built solidly, with a unique pivoting sphere, and secure clamping mechanism.
Attaches and detaches to posts easily so you can move it up and down your weight rack quickly.
Having the ability to move it up your rack opens up a wide variety of exercises you can do with it.
