Living Fit Hex Rubber Dumbbells Review

The Living Fit hex rubber dumbbells offer durability and come at a great value for those who like traditional dumbbells.

In my commercial gym days, I used to love rubber hex dumbbells but I haven’t used any in a while since my garage gym build out.

So it’s nice to get my hands on a pair of these and compare them similar dumbbells as well as adjustables.

Let’s check them out!

I got them out of the boxes and they are beautiful.

Chrome, knurled handle, and hard rubber heads.

Simple but they get the job done.

Handle

The handles are chrome with center knurling and taper on the ends.

Some companies call this type of dumbbells, Ergo Hex, because of the ergonomic handle.

The handle diameter is smaller than I like but they are spacious enough that my hands don’t feel crammed.

And I still have space to add dumbbell fractional plates for those heavy sets where I need to micro load.

Hex Rubber Heads

I do like that the rubber heads are hexagonal in shape because it keeps the dumbbells from rolling.

Most of the adjustable dumbbells I use are round and they tend to roll because of the natural slope of a garage.

The fixed hex rubber dumbbell heads give me peace of mind if I need to drop them after finishing a tough set.

That thick rubber protects both the dumbbells and my flooring.

Hex Rubber Dumbbells vs Adjustable Dumbbells

living fit hex rubber dumbbells vs adjustable dumbbells

I’ve reviewed a fair share of adjustable dumbbells and one major concern about them is their durability.

This is because of all their internal moving parts and fear of damage if they’re accidentally dropped.

Yes, there are some like the Snode AD80 adjustable dumbbells that are made out of cast iron and drop tested.

And Powerblock dumbbells have stood the test of time with their 99% metal build but…

Others like Trulap, Nuobell, Core Home Fitness, and Bowflex dumbbells are more likely to get damaged if dropped excessively.

With Living Fit hex rubber dumbbells there is no issue dropping them and should hold up over time.

The trade off is that a set of hex dumbbells takes up more space than adjustable dumbbells.
